I absolutely love having Pearson for a professor. He is so knowledgeable about every class he teaches and really wants to be the most accessible prof on campus. His classes require a lot of essays but he gives you PLENTY of time to complete them (and has a ton of EC opportunities). Class can lag since its all lecture based, no ppts. Take Him.

Dr. Pearson is fantastic! He is so knowledgable about Russian history and his lectures are so detailed. You really learn a lot in his class. His class is made up of short papers, a midterm and final, and debates. He is fair in grading. But, THERE IS SO MUCH READING. He is a great professor & always willing to help. He cares a lot about his students

Will write about 8 papers 5 short 3 long ones. U will learn some interesting things but its hard to stay on top of all the details can become hard to follow.

I am not a fan of history at all, but I actually learned a lot and enjoyed Professor Pearson's class. He is very knowledgeable and gives great feedback. Lectures are long and can get boring. The class was based off of essays and debates, no tests or quizzes. Definitely would recommend Professor Pearson!

Professor Pearson really knows his stuff but be prepared for classes to be entirely lecture based. He will start a new topic with 5 minutes left in class. He is very understanding and cares about his students' success and although I was bored of the lectures, I will be taking him again since his class was so straight forward.

Dr. Pearson is the best professor at Monmouth! He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. This is a demanding class, but you willl not regret taking it if you put the work in. This is the type of class that will make you a better student and build your confidence. If you want a challenge and to learn about Russian history, take him.

Dr. Pearson is the best professor I have had so far at Monmouth. He is extremely knowledgeable about Russian History and gives feedback on every paper so students can improve. Has a very good sense of humor as well. I loved the class so much I am taking Russian history again next fall with Dr. Pearson.

Don't do it. I had him for western civ and it's the hardest gen ed I've ever had to take (and I'm a straight A student). I did more work for his class this semester than in classes for my major. Unless you're tryna write a dissertation on western civ save your GPA and find another professor

I took both Russian history classes with Dr. Pearson and it is ALOT of work but it's definitely worth it if you're interested in Russia. He is very knowledgable and is so passionate about the subject that he can explain everything with such detail it can become tedious but still interesting. Wish he did more on the USSR tho!

definately a hard class. the topic is interesting and has potential but the way its presented all in lectures makes it dry and not easy to understand. He needs to incorporate his lectures with some power point pictures or something.

Misrerable. The class in entirely lecture based, there is absolutely no interaction. He can talk forever. After we hand in our final exam he said he is still going to lecture for two hours. He is crazy. He knows a lot about Russia, but he is nuts. Worst class I have ever taken.

This is one hard class and not very interesting but Pearson is so passionate about it and makes it more enjoyable. He is very approachable, helping out anyone even after class who still doesnt understand the work. The readings are boring. Unless your really interested in Russian history I wouldnt recommend this type of class. It isn't easy.
