I really enjoyed his class. He doesn't have powerpoints just writes straight on the board so be prepared to come to class. 3 short assignments, 2 papers, a midterm, final, and group project determine your grade. I never really read the textbooks. All in all I really liked him as a prof but a passion for politics helps

A very knowledgeable professor who goes to great lengths to present politically-charged material as fairly as possible. He is very approachable. His lecture delivery style can be a bit dry, so a passion for PoliSci will help. His exams will kill you if you don't study thoroughly. However I highly recommend this professor; I learned a lot.

Dr. Ridout knows how to teach. Does research with some of the best and is thoroughly knowledgable on the subject matter he teaches, media and politics is a great class and criticisms of the mass media from the Comm department and you have no choice but to think critically about our nations media

Ridout is a cool dude, very knowledgable about what he's teaching. He's a tough grader. Not in the sense that he gives everyone C's and D's, but good luck getting an A out of the course. I think the average is like a B, B+. Still he's a good teacher and I'd take his class.

The class is fun and Prof. Ridout covers the material well. He is very helpful and understanding. I missed an exam when I was sick and he hooked me up with a make-up with no problem. He's also fun to talk with about politics in general. Enjoy!
