Easy A but you should still work. 2 papers, 1 oral presentation, 1 midterm. Midterm is easy but she grades harshly on grammar. Must be perfect. Must read the given reading material. Presentation not too hard, given leniency. 2 papers, work on them too (especially with grammar). She's really nice so don't disrespect her. She goes into rants a lot.

professor Allan is very passionate about the subject she is teaching, but if you want to at least learn something then avoid her absolutely. She never discussed the text she assigned but explained her requirements for the only 2 papers from the beginning to the end. She always asked you to hand in your drafts but could not give helpful feedback.

DO NOT take her class if you want to learn something. She is very passionate about the use of language but doesn't actually discuss the works we were assigned to read. Midterm is a joke. If you write what she wants for papers, you'll probably be fine. VERY STRICT about grammar. class is extremely monotonous. id rather pour lemon juice in paper cuts

I took 3 classes with Prof. Allan. She is definitely my favorite of all the professors I've had. She cares about the quality of the work you do above all else and does not pick favorites or give you a good grade because she likes you or something you said or did.

Comment:

Very sweet passionate lady. She is hard to follow in class but is overall a fine teacher. Big on grammar so revise everything. Doesn't give out a whole lot of homework but you should read and participate in class discussions. A midterm two papers and an oral presentation was all we had to do. NO FINAL!

A very sweet lady who's passionate about the works she teaches. Unfortunately she doesn't create a dynamic class environment and goes off on multiple tangents each class. One midterm (based on 1 text), one biographical oral presentation, and one essay (4-5 pages). If you need an easy B grade, you should take her, but be warned: class is monotonous.

This professor just talks about how great a work is without detailing WHY it is great or even going through the reading. Very confusing. Rants preacher-like the entire time and then complains that students don't participate. Always goes off topic and starts talking about other books we haven'twon't read. Good natured but wrong execution.

Professor is very smart, but at the same time very boring. She talks about the same things every class. Not a lot work to do. Only 2 essays to write. If you are a foreign student, you do not have a chance to get A. Grammar is more important to her than your ideas in the essay. But she is helpfull. Take her if you are good at grammar definitely!

She is a very laid back and knowledgeable professor. If you come to class, participate a bit, hand in your work and follow her guidelines, you will get an easy A (2 papers, 1 midterm, 1 oral assignment). She does ramble. However, if you can't formulate a grammatically correct sentence, this is not the class for you.

Wonderful professor! Really made me rethink my path here at Baruch and switched to a Journalism minor. The class is very easy! Don't buy the textbooks as all the readings can easily be found for free online.

Professor T Allan is a very passionate professor. You will learn the importance of literature with a historical context and philosophical outlook as well. Read the texts, improve on your grammar, and come to class. It's fun when you put in effort.

The readings she assigns are interesting. For every paper she assigns she gives many opportunites to re-write so you can get the best grade you deserve. She reviewed for the midterm and was exactly as she reviewed, no surprises, same format for the final. Definitely recommend her as an english professor.

One of the best teachers I've had at Baruch. Grammar is very important, but she is very very helpful and will always help you with your writing if you ask. I learned so much from her. Most passionate teacher I've ever had.
