Comment:
2 in-class exams, 1 take-home exam (6-8pgs). Honestly, take someone else. He was extremely boring. He kind of takes you step by step through the different arguments, but even by the end you still won't know what the argument is. Not good at explaining. Take someone else for an easy A.

Apparently Langenfus has been writing his own reviews, because these do NOT reflect my (or anyone else's) experience in the class. He is confusing, unhelpful, boring, and also very pretentious/cocky. Save yourself the headache and find a different professor. The class was moderately easy, but infuriating.

This class is relatively easy, since there's not many assignments. But this prof is horribly offensive, demeaning, and continually talks down to students when we don't understand. I don't know how his rating on here is so high - don't take him if at all possible! I got an A in the course, but with no thanks to him.

This professor is USELESS and SHOULD BE AVOIDED. Even though his rating is high on here (which is what I relied upon) he is completely confusing and not helpful in understanding the material. I went to him for help several times and received no input as to how to better my grade. Does not care about your learning. Relies on book. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Really great professor. Goes over the material several times, really tries to make sure his students get it. He seems passionate about his subject, and really sparked my interest in it as well. Nothing is too difficult, as he explains it so thoroughly in class. Definitely need to attend the lectures.

All time best professor I have had at John Carroll. Makes hard concepts very easy to understand and engages the class. I actually looked forward to his class and he will grab your attention and make you think! Tests are simple if you take notes!

I dare you to take his class and then post something negative about him. It cannot be done. Anyone that can make sense of a translation written in the 1200's is pretty solid in my book.

If your looking for the best Philosophy classes at JCU, he teaches them. He tells you with clarity what the book can't and his workload is amazingly low. 1 paper/2-3 essay tests/1 final. Definitely at the top of your list whether you are a Philosophy major or you're justing getting rid of your core classes.

I'm pretty sure "Langenfus" is Slovenian for "pure awesomeness." He's funny, engaging, clever, and he makes philosophy very understandable. Just take good notes and you'll be fine. For those who like English, he has an extensive vocabulary, which can be quite delightful. I highly recommend him!

One of the best philosophy teachers I've had at John Carroll. Langenfus is very good at explaining difficult concepts in a way that the whole class can understand. He won't move on to a new subject until the entire class gets it. I would recommend him if you normally have difficulty with philosophy or you just want a good professor.

Comment:
Sometimes I got confused in this class. It was more the material's fault than Langenfus'. He's a good teacher, but be prepared to take notes as he basically just stands in the front and talks. He engages the students and will answer any question. The material in the class was extremely boring, so unless you want to go to law school, don't take 320.

Dr. Langenfus is a real nice guy and tries to make class enjoyable, though it does get dry. Topics include: Religion and problem of evil, Theory of Knowledge, and Mind vs. Body/Ethics. 3 Essay tests(Study!!!) and one paper(5-7 pages) which he makes you critque and argument and you have to find the flaws in them. Overall, good class!

I absolutely dread philosophy. My least fav subject by far. Yet, this was an amazing class. I loved everything I learned. Langenfus was amazing and helped kinda walk you through the class. I wish I would've had him for my 1st 2 PLs. I think I might actually have liked them more. I would definitely take him again in a heartbeat. 3 essay tests 1 ppr
