Mr. Lara is a great teacher. When I first got into his class I really didn't think much of him, but as the time progressed you learn very quickly that he really knows his stuff! His course can be hard, however all you have to do is put in the time and effort into the material, and you will do great! He is more then willing to help if you need help!

If you are new to this subject avoid this teacher. He is strictly review and is annoyed if you ask too many questions.He told me I would fail but thanks to his Substitute I did great. All the bad feedback about him is accurate.

Carlos is warm and understanding both of his subject and of his students. Very helpful. I have math anxiety and shared that with him. He changed how he presented quizzes and made them less terrifying. Thank you, Carlos

He's a great teacher and is willing to help you with any questions you might have. Took this class when he started online HW and quizzes for the first time. The HW was easy and you could redo a quiz if you didn't do well. Tests, however, were in class and kind of hard. As long as you're willing to learn and put forth effort, you'll pass the class.

Nice Guy, bad teacher for this class, Lessons were unclear and confusing, tests were irrelivent. I have gotten an A in every other math class I have taken since I started college but this one I got a, C.

Very nice and helpful teacher. Can be a little confusing but just ask and he will gladly help. A little wierd that we had to do a presentation and write a paper. Would of rather just stuck to math.

I agree with alot of the comments here. Wants to help the students, but not everyone is on the same level. Glad to explain the problems, but he isn't going to dwell on a student who just doesn't get it. PC Course (on campus) - little instruction, had to teach yourself the material. If I had to pick an Algebra teacher he would come in 3rd place

Sympathetic towards students...he signed me into a way overloaded class because my other math class was closed. Always nice throughout quarter but could see how he would be a bit difficult if you are not very good at math, however one of better math teachers I had at SPSCC and I took 5 math classes!!!!!!

Not a good teacher if you math is not your best subject. most of the class was spent going over the previous nights homework and no real time spent on teaching how to do that nights homework. Difficult to do homework when it's something you have never done before will not take a class with this teacher again.

Math 107 is the only class I've ever had to drop. Lara is extremely rude and unclear about assignments. He called this class the "wussy class" and probably thought he was being funny. I think he's the worst professor I've ever had. He was unwilling to help and didn't cover important material before assigning work. I was extremely confused.

You really need to teach youself the material, but he is great in the sense that you get to use notes and you are able to redo many tests that you mess up on.

Coming out of the military I wanted to brush up with my math before moving on to higher classes. Prof. His teaching style only works if you know the material. He does more review after the fact than before he teaches it. He is open to assisting you, but you have to ask for it. Expect homework nightly, 2-3 sections a night was not uncommon.

Carlson is a very cool teacher though he was always not on time. I like the way he teaches because it is easy to understand, and he gives a clearcut explanation. He is a very funny teacher. If you like Math, you can rock with him. But if you don't like Math or not good at all, don't take his class.
