Professor Malary (aka "Claude") is one of the most interesting people to have a conversation with. A very read scholar, as well as having a wealth of experiences, Claude is able to speak on many subjects with ease. Don't hesitate to share your opinions -- Claude won't -- and just be prepared to back up why you feel that way.

Claude is the BEST. He is extremely passionate about the subject matter and truly cares that each student takes away something important from the class. A bit unconventional, opinionated, cares more about the "philosophy" behind the french than the actual french... but that's why he's so good. How every professor at SMC should be.

He takes a while to get used and to appreciate. He does have students he loves to pick on and tease. Sometimes it's not as light hearted as he thinks. Otherwise, he's a great professor. We didn't have to just stay on the book, we could relate anything to it. Nice grader. Had daily writing assignments and a final essay at the end.

take this man if you want your ideas challenged and you want a brand new perspective on the world. he is not the white, catholic, SMC type. he is brilliant but a pain in the a** sometimes, mostly because he wants you to think and consider why you got whatcha got. go Claude!

Claude was one of the best teachers I ever had at SMC. He was tough and knew that so many professors let students get away with things, he wanted to challenge us at a UC level.He was humorous, dedicated to knowing all his students, and very approachable if you weren't understanding things.He cares.

This teacher is easy. The discussions are interesting and the only reason a person would not like his class is because they don't speak spanish well enough! Why be in a spanish class that is too advanced for you. That is probably the reason many people hated the class, because they don't understand!
