Comment:

I enjoyed him as the professor. He has the "dad joke" vibe about him as he'll try to crack at least one cheesy joke per class. He makes it clear what information is going to be relevant on upcoming tests which is fantastic! Furthermore, take notes of what he writes on the board as it's pretty much what he will ask on the tests. Would recommend!

Comment:

Dr. Nelson is a great teacher, and very communicative. Unfortunetly he is extremely slow at basic operations like divisions and conversions which extends the class longer than it needs to be. He skips a lot of slides on his slideshow, but you really just need to pay attention to what he says. He gives a study guide as well before the tests.

Lectures are torture and incredibly slow. Majority of the time he's writing paragraphs on the board (no shorthand or anything) of stuff that doesn't need written. Near the end of the semester he's still going over stuff from the first couple weeks and he does not move forward until someone answers. Also, no calculators on tests. Prepare to do 2^30+

Dr. Nelson is extremely kind and knows what he's talking about in Digital Logic. His accent may be hard to understand in the beginning of the year, but it gets easier. The subject matter, however, only gets harder. The tests are relatively cut and dry. He does give a study guide before each exam. He tries his best to help you.

Overall C programming isn't too bad as long as you don't get behind on the six programs. The midterm exam wasn't too bad but the final was hard as hell! Do not underestimate Dr. Nelson's niceness for weakness, you must study. I got a B in the course.

Nelson is cool. extremely nice and friendly,but dont take his kindness for weakness(not a push over).makes sure you learn the material(sometimes over repetitive). he is not easy,you have to do all homeworks and his tests are tricky.if you havnt dont do the homeworks on your own you'll get a C at the most

He's a great instructor!Does a great job of explaining material. He is a very nice guy, but not a pushover. He's exams reflect material he emphasises in class very well. If you were'nt a lazy slacker in 318, you're in good shape for communications and controls. If you were lazy then you're fu#@ed.

In his classes, you can learn or not learn, and will still get a decent grade. But if you try, you'll learn something. Always willing to help. Possibly the happiest guy I've ever met. Cool accent too (he's Jamaican).
