She is one of the worst professors Ive ever had. Starts drama with students, lies multiple times to the class, never stays on topic, late all the time, extremely disorganized, feels like she made the class up as she went. Class felt like a huge waste of my time and money. Learned absolutely nothing. Shes retiring after this semester, thank god

Highly recommend not taking her class, she is very disorganized and gets easily side tracked. She does respect other people's opinions on topics talked about in class. Some of the content talked about in class will catch you off guard so be prepared. This course can be an easy A if you focus on the textbook when it comes to the tests.

Dr. Mahlstedt isn't the typical professor here. There's a lot of work and it can seem overwhelming but if you have questions or concerns, she makes time to help you out.

Don't take her!! Semester's over & she never handed back any graded assignments. Lectures have no notes or powerpoint. Expects u to take notes off what she's saying but she talks in circles all over the place? Set on her own viewpoints that are outdated. Argues with students. Worse class I've had @ WC

She is a mess. She should stop teaching. Her styles are outdated as well as everything she says. She is rude. She will talk about you if you are not in class as well as other students publicly behind their back (other teachers too). Misses classes, expects a lot, barely grades, can't do basic math, doesn't answer emails, insults others, AVOID HER!

She is a nice woman and she isnt judgemental. She's disorganized, highly. I can't stress it enough. She says she's doing things to rectify the situation but, she really is not from a students stand point. I really would like to drop her class, but, i need credits. Her notes aren't great either. Her class is the only one I really dread.

She's so unorganized and easily distracted. The content was very interesting if you could get past her unorganized lectures and notes. Tests were difficult if you didn't read the book yourself.

The most frustrating thing about her has to be the fact that she knows she's disorganized, but does little to nothing to improve on it. She's a sweet lady, and her class is pretty easy, she's just hard to follow in her lectures (write in pencil, maybe). No reason not to take her, just be patient with her. She always gives a study guide!

Not a bad teacher at all, definitely necessary to study but she is very knowledgable about what she's teaching. Sometimes confusing but you always get the gist. Rarely assigns work. Would definitely take again.

One of the worst professors I've had. Her lectures are confusing and don't relate to any of the material you will be tested on. She seems passionate but don't expect to learn much because she only teaches her opinion which offends many students. Walked out of that class angry everyday. Waste of time

She's extremely disorganized and goes on long tangents that don't really connect to each other. However, take notes when you see her writing, read, and study from the study guides and you will be fine. Without extra credit I got a 99 on the first test and high A's on the other 2. Her study guides ARE the tests. She's just really disorganized.

She was super disorganized and cancelled class for 2 straight weeks, then expected us to take a test right away. Her lectures can be confusing but if you show up, take notes, and read the book, you'll do fine.

She's very flighty but I also thought she was a brilliant person. She definitely knows her stuff, she's just not great at lecturing and she's not very clear. She also cancelled class a lot. Overall, I enjoyed her class and thought she was pretty funny. I learned a lot and would take her again.

She is not as bad as everyone is making her out to be! The senior sem. class was probably my favorite class over my entire time at WCU. She is very knowledgeable, and knows what she is talking about. She goes off on tangents sometimes, and she has her quirks but I would def. recommend taking her for senior sem. and anything else she might teach.

Dr. Mahlstedt is a great professor! She is a very sweet lady and I loved her senior sem class! Very knowledgeable on a lot of different topics, especially related to social change. She is definitely not as bad as people make her sound! :)

She is a horrible teacher; she is a sweet lady but not a good professor; she goes on tangents all the time and if she messes up will blame and yell at the class. If you want an easy A take her it is not that hard but you will hate every second spent in class. If she knows your name you will get asked to speak if she doesn't you don't have a chance

She's a wonderful person, honestly, but she shouldn't be in a classroom. Being disorganized is fine, but this woman is off the charts. She is terrible with grading, never answers e-mails, changes her mind on her criticisms, and assigns/cancels work at the last minute. This is honestly the biggest waste of time I've ever spent.

She is a great person. Yes she goes off on tangents, but she really cares about the topics she talks and teaches about. If you like very organized/boring lectures, do not take her. If you like professors who are passionate and caring, she is for you. That simple.

The most scatter brained professor I've ever had. The class could have been so much better if she didn't go on extreme tangents. Constantly argues opinions that don't agree with her own, even if she is wrong. Expects everyone to know any and all things about psych before coming to class. And good luck taking notes with all her random thoughts.
