Easy class, he's a bit hard to understand sometimes (rambles) but it was fun. Tests are super easy and he gives a lot of "pointers" the class before an exam, exams are curved crazy too. :D

Comment:

Easy A if you come to Review Day. Gives 50% of the test away on rev days. The tests are curved between 10-15 pts. so without doing anything you already have above a sixty. The tests are hard because noone knows anything about russia or russian history/literature. He's also very hard to understand and possibly (most likely) senile. Nice guy though.

He is such a funny guy! Extremely knowledgeable and painfully shy. the best way to learn from him is to come during his office hours. He is in his office day and night. He should only teach small seminars. he is not a big lecture type. I love him!

Although its true that this is an easy A, its a ridiculous class. The tests actually aren't that easy because even if you go to class, you cant understand a word he says. However there is always a large curve and he gives half of the questions away on review day. He seems like a nice guy, but its time for him to retire. He makes a mockery out o

Avoid taking this teacher. He fell off his rocker a long time ago and isn't getting back on. His grading is arbitray and your answers must parrot exactly what he said, independent thinking doesn't get you anywhere. Easy A but not worth the time.

Easily one of the worst professors I've had at UF. Lectures are scattered and he gets off topic very easily. He does give answers to test questions on review day, but if you don't write something exactly the way he thinks it should be, good luck getting anything higher than a B.

he isn't the easiest professor to understand, and the grading is not traditional. go to class the day before the exam, and he gives u answers, but at the same time, he will give you the wrong classes. honestly, if you are looking for an easy A, i'd advice you to not take this course, even with Einstein Notes, still got a C+.

This lovely lad put on quite the show. I didn't understand a word he said but it didn't matter, I just took notes from what he wrote down. There is a curve for the first 2 tests and I got away with not buying the book. Easy A

Yes he is funny. Go to review days he gives aways answers often takes attendance (mondays, fridays...) Didnt read any of the books tried to take notes but its VERY hard cuz you cant understand him (mumbles...) GET NOTES! Hes often late/leaves early or cancles class over all the class is easy!Some ppl love him other hate him cuz he is so random ...

I loved Barksdale. He was hilarious. Although the Darth Vader voice is somewhat unclear, he really tries to let you know what's on the exams. Overall he has got to be one of the funniest professors at UF.

I wanted to die in this class. You have to go to get the "brownie points" and attendance but you can't understand a word he says. Pray that the Einstein notes available are good so that you can actually study something. I really didn't like this class because it was so unstructured. He is very funny but it was frustrating trying to understand him.

OMG! The funniest professor, maybe even person, I have ever met lol! He has no idea what's going on ever, and he goes off on tangents all the time. You don't really have to do read or anything for his tests, just make sure you go to class on review days! Btw, ask him to sing in russian if you get the chance lol!

Not a hard prof. He did not take attendance 5 years ago when I had him. His Darth Vador does rock. Ask him about his contact w/ alians to get another good laugh. The material is also kinda interesting. Take all of his classes!!! You will be glad you did!

Wow. Life does not get any easier... its better if you like the material, but either way this class is the EASIEST class ever. The guy is hilarious... not really of his own doing... I love his "Darth Vader" routine... AMAZING! Take this class.

I could not understand a single thing this man said. ever. The class was easy, and I suggest attending lecture because he takes attendance. During lecture bring other stuff to do because you will not be paying attention in class.
