Lots and Lots of work. Class requires lots of homework, rehearsing and performing dumb random scripts every class. You must do it right or he gets very upset. Very hard critic, and poor time management. doesn't help you understand, you have to figure it out yourself. Attendance is mandatory. worst class i have ever taken! would not recommend!!!!

This was supposed to be a script development class for stage & SCREEN. ended up only being for stage. Wasn't bad though. I was excited to go to class every day. We acted out scripts and that was fun. He's a very hard critic, but he gives you the truth. He really cares about what he's doing, but poor time management. Hates absences.

Mr. J may be a little rough around the edges sometimes, but his focus is to get his students engaged in theatre. If you don't have what it takes, I'd advise you to move on. He's a wonderful, artistic driven professor and you should have thicker skin if you intend to persue theatre as a profession! Want to learn, J. is your guy!

He won't kiss your ass. If you're bad he's going to tell you so. If you're good he'll give ya a pat on the back. (Literally and probably kind of hard). His niche is classical acting. He is an appropriate instructor for first year college professors. Not right 100% of the time when it comes to direction but no theatre teacher really is. good guy.

Here's the deal with Mr. J! He is a damn good teacher,he is very honest about his so called favoritism. To quote, "I favor those students who show up on time to all my classes and work hard." If you are someone who doesn't do any of these things, then drop the class. I bet those who gave him a bad review were lazy students. I pity them instead.

It is ironic that most people who complain want to get into a career field that punctuates pride, and vanity, however are critical of the professor who appears that way. Their is a reason why he is tough... its the nature of biz. Governor school???? Huh... I have been in prof. theater, and feature films. He is the BEST, and I wasn't a favorite!!

This teacher loves the sound of his own voice and has poor time management skills. My class didn't get through half of what our syllabus outlined. His expectations are ridiculously high and he is prone to favoritism. He'll pick you apart. Consider yourself warned.

I think that Mr. J is an awesome teacher BUT he is tough because he wants to weed out BAD acting. I think that some students are offended by him but it is only because he is very honest and will tell you if you don't have any acting ability!! I am in two of his classes and really enjoy them!!

Mistake to have chosen him as a professor. Sarcasm to the point of making students cry. No respect for students. Not willing to work with you. Supposedly, he has been reported before for his mean/crude behavior before. Enjoys public embarrassment. Choose another professor...don't believe me?...ask around.

I've had him for several classes. He's tough but he really wants his students to do well. Many people complained about him, and I certainly have, but in the end he's helped me to grow as an actor. He expects the best from his students, but he also believes they're capable of being the best.

I dont understand why students complain abut this professor? Acting is not easy &he let students know that. You have to be discpline to be an actor , therefore you have to be discpline to be in his class. Very good professor and teaches you where to start from as an actor.

He is NOT encouraging. I am a theater major and he doesn't teach. I think he is a good director. But a director and a teacher are two different things. I would discourage anyone with an interest in theater NOT to take his class.

I took class with Mr. J years ago and now have my MFA and am a working Equity actor. When I was at TCC I thought he was alright, but not the most encouraging. Now I know that he really has no idea what he is doing. He will keep his students from working in other shows just to keep them in the dark; he has no business directing or teaching theatre.

Come on! Are you kidding! This man,his classes, his productions are a joke! Anyone with ANY theatre experience outside of TCC would know that Ed Jacob has no idea what he is doing! He is not about the students, he is about HIMSELF. His classes and his productions are high school level theatre at best. I feel so sorry for him and for his apologists.

Not an easy teacher, but a good one. If you want to learn the mechanics of acting, this is a good class. But you need to be willing to put in the time.He is brutal on those who don't try or prepare themselves. In a business where reputation is everything, his is golden for putting out good, and well trained actors.
