Gives poor feedback on papers. Not supportive at all. Contemptuous, actually. Disorganized. Almost cost me my diploma, due to her lousy paperwork.

I had her as a grad student, and Ms. Tremper is truly a delightful teacher. She's incredibly passionate & knowledgeable. Yes, her standards are high, but this should be seen as an asset for a teacher, not a weakness. She's really a funny and kind lady. Can't wait to take her again.

Comment:
I'm currently taking 19th Century Novel with Prof. Tremper and thus far it has not been the best class. Her lectures tend to be dull, she grades very harsh (likes giving low Bs and Cs). She demands every student to go above and beyond but is unclear of what she expects. Seems to make things difficult for no real reason.

I think she's a wonderful professor who knows her stuff, is passionate about what she teaches and is also eager to impart her wisdom on others. But I believe she has favorites and others have agreed with me on this.

Although, professor is a very nice person, she is extremely boring. She knows her stuff but doesn't do a good job teaching it. I would never recommend this professor. She gives a lot of writing and is a hard grader-loves giving C's. My worst experience at Brooklyn College-seriously thinking of changing schools.

Comment:
Prof. Tremper can definitely be frustrating since she uses sooo much class time to talk about her sons when they were kids or to focus on some tiny detail in the novels you discuss. However, as the semester went on, she seemed to get better and there was always lots of good discussion. Not the easiest grader either for everyone...

She's tough, no doubt about it. She's very intelligent, and you will definitely learn something. But, she expects overly critical reading. So, be prepared to read for meaning in EVERY word!

Prof Tremper seems nice in the beginning until you get your papers back. Very critical in grding but unclear when you ask her for feedback. Loves giving everyone C's

Professor is full of knowledge but she favors her students. Upon her liking of you is how she grades you. Although she is a nice person she is not clear in what she wants in the course.

Professor Tremper is one of the best professors I have encountered at BC.It is true that she expects alot from her students, but she actually teaches you so much as well!! She knows her material and she still has the passion for teaching literature.
