Professor Inglis is one of the most wonderful human beings in the planet. His quirky, lively way of lecturing is completely immersive, hes incredibly intelligent, and best of all hes one of the kindest people on Earth. It should be a requirement to take a class with him at least once. Truly incredible.

Professor Inglis is one of the most kind, considerate, intelligent, and genuine people - let alone professors - at Oberlin. His teaching style is wacky but straightforward, and you can tell that he is endlessly excited about the topics he lectures on. He is a fair (if a bit vague) grader and wont to push back deadlines and give extensions. A gem.

I graduated five years ago, but I'm obsessed with this man. I took three classes with him despite being a bio major. He was extremely understanding & kind about my mental/physical health struggles and forgave missing work, and took lots of time to work with me on my final paper. His only flaw: his handwriting is truly atrocious.

Scout's Honor - this might be the best professor on campus. Best advice I ever got was to take a class from Erik Inglis at least once before graduating. Not only is he a great teacher, but he puts in so much work to his lectures and it shows. Not to mention, he gives great career advice/resume help. (I took ARTS101, but that wasn't an option...)

Erik is a great professor! Rather than simply lecturing, in an art history intro class he would invite students to actively observe, think, ask questions, prove their arguments and develop further thoughts in a scholarly way. Interesting assignments and good feedback. Recommended to every student in Oberlin!

You don't want to miss out on a chance to have a class with Erik while at Oberlin. He's a great lecturer who forces the class to get involved and more importantly, to think critically. Although it wasn't clear to me what he wanted on some of the earlier assignments, if you go to his office hours you'll get great help and learn exactly what he wants

Erik is one of the best professors I've ever had in college. He's an amazing lecturer and was able to get me interested in and excited by things like medieval art and architecture, topics I would have always assumed would be a snoozefest. I have loved studying with Erik, and highly recommend it to any Oberlin student.

I came to Oberlin with no idea what I wanted to study, but after taking a class with Erik, I'm seriously considering an art history major. His enthusiasm for the subject is contagious! But besides that, he's engaging, kind and an incredible lecturer. I would highly recommend signing up for one of his classes.

Every student in Oberlin should be required to take a class with Erik Inglis. Even if you are not passionate about the subject, he will make you interested. He's lectures are amazing and meeting with him is even better. Never have had a more passionate, charismatic, and engaging professor. Simply the best.

Inglis is an incredible professor! His limitless knowledge and stunning lectures both challenged our evolving analysis of the works and inspired us with a deep appreciation for the weird, fascinating, wonderful nature of art history. He is one of my alltime favorite professors especially for trying so hard to get to know everyone in a 120p lecture

I can't tell you how much I love him. His lecture is not easy though, but it will be a mistake for not taking it. He even makes me think about majoring in Art History. Really inspirational teacher! And always willing to help. Hope to learn with him next semester!

Erik is seriously one of the best professors on campus. Even in an intro lecture class, he still manages to be engaging and truly inspirational. His assignments can be tough if you've never had to write for an art history class before, but go to his office (in the courtyard of the Allen!) and he'll be happy to help you with whatever you need.

best professor i have had at oberlin. brilliant, sweet and caring person. his lectures are incredible he facilitates great discussions. long readings, but you don't have to know every detail. minor drawbacks are that he takes a while to grade and the syllabus can be unclear, but he will clarify. bottom line: i would major in erik inglis if i could.

Professor Inglis is obviously very passionate about what he teaches and it makes for an engaging and interesting lecture. He is really easy to talk to outside of class if you have any questions and managed to get many people to talk during class even though it was a big introductory lecture. Would definitely recommend taking a course with him!

One of the best professors I've ever had. He's incredibly clear and eloquent. He has a vast knowledge of his subject matter and helps you think about art in an entirely different way. Papers count for most of grade and a tough grader, but at the end you don't even care about the grade because of how enjoyable it is. Inspirational. Motivating

He's an amazing professor, I've taken several classes with him. First class, didn't care about medieval art, that changed, kept coming back for more. There are a good number of assignments, but if you try at all and show interest, he will love you. He's amazing at facilitating discussion and just remarkable in his presentation. Professor-crush love
