Comment:
Paul is an amazing English Professor. He does give marks for participation so go to class, but his classes are enjoyable. He gives good feedback on the assignments and is a fair marker. I had a heavy course load when I took his class and he was understanding and willing to give me an extension on a paper. Would definitely take him again.

I've been told by many professors and instructors that my papers were the best they have ever seen, but Paul definitely didn't think so. Everybody in our class thought he was a very difficult grader. He literally told our class that "if you got less than 3 out of 5 on this assignment, then you should probably drop the class". BTW, 5 drop the class

Boring lectures and very unorganized with assignments. Inconsistent marker but gives decent feedback. However, he talks a lot about pop culture so that semi saves the class. Not the best but not the worst.

paul is a good guy but his lectures will put you to sleep, hes obsessed with game of thrones so if you dont watch it, prepare to be lost because the kids who do watch it have an advantage. throughout the sem youll go thru beowulf, richard the III, and game of thrones. quizzes for every topic and lots of readings

He's obsessed with Game of Thrones and brings it into the lectures. A lot. He assigns quite a bit of work to prepare for the next class. Spends a lot of time on basic things. Wastes class time. Never ends early. Might put you to sleep. Fair grader.

Paul is extremely flexible. He understands that sometimes life happens and you have to hand something in late. He assigns a lot of reading and you must read, otherwise you will have nothing to contribute to the class discussions. He is a bit of a tough grader, but he gives good feedback and wants you to succeed.

Good teacher, good feedback. One term paper worth 25%, one in-class essay worth 15%, Oral presentation worth 15%, Short Writing Assignments worth 10%, 3 Reading Quizzes 15% total, Final Exam 20%. We studied Beowulf, Richard the 3rd by Shakespeare and the TV series Game of Thrones.

One of my favourite professors that I've ever had. Super friendly and genuinely cares about his students and how they do. Fair marker so long as you're good at English. Anyone who says he's a hard marker is clearly just a weaker English student, don't blame the professor. Uni english isn't easy. 10/10 recommend, you'll learn lots!

He lectures and goes off off topic way too much. Constantly repeats the same things or what interests him. He talks more about film than English and gives random quizzes. Hes very disorganized when it comes to assigning assignments. Also a very hard market expects way too much from first year introduction English students.

Super great prof! His classes feel like one big family, and everyone is comfortable sharing ideas. He really like Game of Thrones (like really) so expect to do a lot of that. He also is very welcoming to students who use office hours and cares about individual students and their education.

No textbooks are needed, so that saved me some cash. We studied Shakespearean plays, which I used to hate back in high school. I like Shakespeare a lot more now. His lectures can be really boring at times. He's decent and is very approachable. Exams are SUPER easy, so if test-taking isn't exactly your thing, take Tyndall.

For those of you that think he focuses "too much" on grammar and style, you should probably familiarize yourself with what an English class IS. Improper grammar is unacceptable at a university level. Paul was incredibly engaging, had a great text selection, involved the class in group and class discussions and marks fairly and helpfully. Great prof

He was an inconsistent marker (way too tough for a first year English course, focused too much on grammar and style), he was unclear with his expectations from day one making it difficult for his students to succeed right away , not at all helpful with showing us how to improve, boring, wasted class time. Do not take him!!!

He was not helpful in showing his students how to improve, inconsistent marker (too tough on grammar and style), textbook was interesting but he was not (rambled on and on in class). I do not recommend him, I ended up with a B even though I should have received a higher grade (I am good at English!)

Absolutely loved this class. Wasn't too sure to expect in my first English class but he really made it fun. Interesting assignments given out and his final was SUPER EASY. He's a generous marker as well. Certainly recommend this class for those who need credits in 1100.

He needs to give the students a chance to speak too. Perhaps dividing students into smaller groups would work better than a large group! Another thing, he needs to accept other people's perception of the literary works. Different people have different view points. Needs to accept new ideas, other than his own.

He told me I did an amazing job on my paper. So good in fact, he didn't believe I wrote it. Once I was able to prove that the work was mine, he downgraded my mark from an A to B+ because he realised that it wasn't as impressive as he orang ally thought. He told the class at the beginning of the year that he didn't give out A's to first years.
