Cooper is the man. His class is pretty difficult, but if you put work in (and participate), you will get good grades and a lot out of the class. Cooper is super willing to help you out in office hours, and he is very approachable overall. I recommend his class, for sure.

Don't think you can learn a lot in the lecture. So RUDE if you go to see him after the exam asking about grades and answers of questions.

Loved this class. I'm a neuro major, don't care much for cell bio - only took this for premed requirements. However, this ended up being awesome. I learned SO much info that will be helpful for the MCAT. His lectures are great - take extensive notes and use those to prep for tests. Must participate during class, but he's very inviting.

Don't call him Santa Claus; he doesn't like that. Seriously though, Cooper is great. He makes the most difficult concepts seems fundamental. Participation is important though, so if you have trouble raising your hand, this class might not be for you.

Great class, great professor, exams were fair. DON'T GO FOR THE OPEN-BOOK FINAL, much harder than any of the closed-book exams.

Very clear and encourages class participation and creative thought in class with rocks. His tests are relatively easy but high variance (25 questions sometimes single word answer). Was unexpectedly blown away by this class.

Cooper speaks clearly and is very enthusiastic. His lectures go right by the book. His exams are pretty easy, especially if you have already taken genetics. To study, skim the chapters, go to class, and study your notes.

Very nice teacher. Go to lecture, it will make reading the text more interesting. Great class, made me fall in love with cell bio :) you MUST read the book, every bit of it, tho. He follows his slides exactly, which is wonderful! No surprises on tests. Very fair.

A challenging class, but not impossible. Make sure you understand the pictures from the powerpoints well, and you'll be fine. The textbook is contains a higher level of detail than he expects you to know, which he clarifies in lecture. Tests are all multiple choice, but are still pretty challenging-nothing compared to Hausman's though.

Much better teacher than Hausman. To do well on the exams, look at the pictures he put up in his slides and understand everything about them. Tests are extremely hard, so try to study a bit each day. Skim the book before you go to lecture! DO NOT CRAM.

Extremely generous on exams -- averages will be high on the test over his portion of the course. A little dull in lecture, but also very clear on most topics. He's a smart man, don't forget it. Only real words of wisdom: READ THE CHAPTERS BEFORE LECTURE.

Cooper delivers clear lectures that are directly out of the book (he wrote it). This gets boring, but you will appreciate the clarity once you encounter Hausman. Cooper's test questions are hard, but not as hard of Hausman's. Take advantage of this...do well in the first half of the course while the averages are still low!

I agree that his lectures may be a little boring, but he does make the points clear (unlike Hausman). Very challenging test questions that make you think, but not so bad if you're used to critical thinking problems and understand how everything works instead of just memorizing the book. If confused, go to his office hours, the man wrote the book!

This class is really hard. Open book tests don't mean anything. Start studying at least a week before and you'll be good. The curve is decent. Go to lecture because what is covered in lecture is on the test. Cooper and Hausman wrote the book, so it is basically the same stuff from the book.

I actually thought Hausman was much better. Open book tests, but the first average was a 51. Focuses his exam questions on methods & experiments...good luck with that...

much more organized and easy to understand than hausman. he can be a bore but if you've had a good night's sleep he's clear and easy to follow. tests are impossible... he knows that and doesn't care.

This man is a hack and so is Hausman. He spews right from the book, but you have to go to lecture because he'll cover what you need to know there. Tests are ridiculously hard and they know it and don't care.
