Comment:

Prof. Young is probably one of the worst professors ever. She is such a strict grader, if she doesn't agree with your paper, she won't grade you fairly. There is a group project, but only two people are supposed to present out of four. This leaves the other two to slack and not put in work. She will lower your grade if you don't attend class.

Comment:

She is extremely knowledgeable in the subject she teaches, but it was a very challenging class. Very lecture heavy, a lot of reading and a lot of complicated questions. I never received the grade I was expecting on anything, even if I thought I had improved. Her lecture was also very biased and your personal opinions were not much welcome.

Comment:

Challenging professor but a fair grader. If you know something about feminism and gender theory prior to the class, take it. If not, you are going to find her difficult. That said, she's very knowledgeable and I found her class to be very interesting and learned a lot. Grade based on weekly Facebook posts and 5 short-ish papers.

She is extremely knowledgable of her scholarship. She is an extremely tough but fair grader. She isn't one to get to know students on a personal level. This class is EXTREMELY theory heavy but it covers almost every facet of Gender in Society so it is well-worth taking.

The course was 'Sexualities Studies,' and she seemed very unprepared and detached from the subject matter. She's nice, it's an easy course, but I found her dull and tiresome. She used the phrase "Can we accept this???" about every class, which got on my nerves.

Comment:

"Gender in Soc" is a very theory based class. She knows a lot about the subject but does not discuss practical things or ways to be hands on. Take her if you know something about gender studies-otherwise you will find her difficult. She is a great lady but needs work on her class presentation. She reads off slides which becomes quite dull...

Terrible professor. If you are a guy, you will hate her feminist rants about how inherently bad you are simply because you are a male. Avoid this professor, regardless of the class she teaches.

RIDICULOUSLY BAD. Class was called "gender" in society, when really she just seemed to talk about how all men oppress all women. defined gender terms WRONG. Should be teaching at a much more conservative school. I won't deny that she's been much better outside of class, but if you can avoid taking her, you'll be so thankful that you did.

Prof Young is quite painful. She just reads off the powerpoint and did not know much about the subject. She is an extremely hard grader and leaves no constructive criticism to do better. She is very nice, warm, and great outside of the classroom, just her lectures and discussions are horrendous. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Comment:

Class syllabus and assignments are constantly being revised so you never know exactly what's going on. Paper topics are so structured it's not even writing just answering a series of annoying questions in essay format. Assigns dry books.
