Comment:

Every week a 5-minute quiz. Every lecture a poll. 5 HWs including those of Simulink/Matlab and lots of calculations in the chapter of dynamics. Heavy midterm and final exams. But not strict grading. Prof. Sharf is helpful and will definitely reply to all your questions by email. Good course, no pain no gain.

Had Sharf for mech 412 and mech 220, not by choice. If you can avoid her please do. Her teaching is very simple, yet her homeworks, quizes, midterms, and finals are really really hard. She will make your life hell and she will make you hate engineering. She might look like a sweet person, but do not underestimate how miserable she will make youfeel

Only comment from a dean list student ever, life is already tough enough in 2020, and she will double it for you easily. A police for university students. Attendance needed for a note reader lecture. You have 30s to type a word for tutorial attendance,

Exams and quizzes are so hard, I hired three tutors plus friends to do online quiz and they get different answers and I do not know which one to trust and upload.....

Extremely kind professor, but hardcore with course content. Her evaluations are hard, and I would have preferred an alternative to Mastering Engineering, but she really values the learning of her students and wants the best for them. Lectures are hard to follow, however, but, with EXTENSIVE practice, you might do well in her class.

Don't be fooled by her "oh this is such an easy course"/"nothing fundamentally new in this course" expressions, and her lecture/tutorials examples. Get the book and do the hardest problems that you can get yours hands on, cause her exams are gonna be even harder than that. PS: even if the whole class is failing, don't expect anything to get easier.

The example in class is 1+12the exam question is like calculate 55445*32323 in 0.5 seconds. Avoid her if you can.

Made the course completely different from other profs, took away the 100% final option while making the exams ridiculously hard and long. The exams are not at all representive of whats taught in class

She uses another prof's slides. She's always lost and she can spend the whole lecture TRYING to answer a question asked by a student. She made this easy course so hard I don't even know how. The exams are completely different than what we do in class and in the tutorials and in the suggested problems.

Comment:

She's tiny and adorable. Also stern and kinda brutal for exams. She's a great lecturer, but you will have to work for your grade a lot; partly I think that's just the nature of the course. Also, make sure to do the difficult 3D problems as you WILL get similar ones on the final. And work work work/use your brain.

Professor Sharf has been one of my favorite teachers in university, even though I've only been here a year. Her lectures are interesting, she is very clear and she knows her material extremely well. Her exams on the other hand are deadly and you have to really understand the course to pass. Do practice problems EVERY week.

Terrible course. I don't have words for how I feel about myself. I did work on my own a lot. I believe that when you study 7 hours a week for one class, you deserve to pass, but I got 30% on midterm 2. Honestly, it makes me reconsider if I really belong to engineering. Nevertheless, she is really brilliant and it shows.

Prof. Sharf is a great instructor and supremely intelligent, but she definitely makes you work for your grade. After all, that is why you are attending university, so you should not avoid her simply for that reason. Watch out for the last section of the course bc it is the hardest part to understand and she represents it very late in the semester.

Comment:

Great teacher, but be prepared to work. The material in this class is not hard (it's basically just linear algebra). Professor Sharf makes the course hard by giving long exams and assignments. Both the final and the midterm felt like a race. If you need help she will be there for you.

Professor Inna Sharf is a really good lecturer, I learned a LOT from her lectures! The material itself is tough, and her exams are quite challenging. However, if you do work for it and spend a huge amount of time solving problems and paying attention on her notes the course becomes easier. I myself got an A, so it's possible!

Comment:

Prof. Sharf is known for her difficult midterms/exams, but you will learn a lot if you keep up with the material. She explains material well in class and does lots of examples, but you need to do lots of work to succeed in her classes.
