I took both of his courses (111 and 112). He is very intelligent and is determined to help guide each of his students to a pleasant grade and a better understanding for math in general. I would for sure recommend him to anyone who needs a little push in the right direction when it comes to algebra.

I hated math until I took this class. He makes it very easy to understand and I really like him. I really liked the fact that he is always in the learning center to help you out with studying. I recommend doing the homework and studying. Also he has five point quizzes every class. Every class is worth points for your grade so attendance is good.

BEST math teacher EVER! really, he is i wish he taught 120. His lectures...very clear and helpfull. There is homework every night and a quiz every morning based on previous day lecture and homework. But it really helps you store the 411 in your brain for upcoming test. AWESOME teacher take him!

great teacher failed math 3 times until took him i would take him again for sure just do the homework (which) is not required to be turned in and you will do fabulous and follow his lecture soo easy.

he's boring...i suggest people trying to skip basic math, go to Professor Hearne by taking Psych 171...if u know how to add, subtract, divide, and multiply fractions, you'll get in his class! chavez is very boring to the extreme!

There is homework everynight, you have to do them because there is a quiz the following class meeting...its open notes, but obviously if you did the homework, the greater chance of passing it. The exams are somewhat hard, you really have to study in this class. Study hard and you will do well.
