Comment:
Dr. Carson is incredibly knowledgeable and assigns a very fair workload. He cares deeply about the topics discussed and focusses mainly on conversational learning. Great class and great professor really am not sure why his other ratings are relatively low.

Comment:
Dr. Carson is a nice guy who is passionate about the presidency, and his lectures consist of him reading summaries (no slides or anything on board) of the reading that was assigned for the class. The class had two tests (completely writing based), a final essay, and a cumulative final exam. If you take notes in class and study, you can do well.

Dr. Carson is the best political science professor ever. His classes are discussion based and you much participate and must be in class. He is very understanding and obviously knows what he is talking about. I wish every class I took was taught by him.

Dr. Carson is actually pretty cool. He is a clear expert on APD and it shows. Tests are not that bad, study and come to class and you will do perfectly fine. Lecture's can be a little dry at times and the reading is pretty heavy. Overall pretty good experience.

Wasn't an awful class but wasn't great. You'll have articles to read for every class or 50-80 pages of a book. The material can be boring and if no one participates class can be quite boring as well. There were only like 2 short papers but all of the grades matter b/c there are so few. Dr. Carson is nice, if you study you'll be fine, but bored

Dr. Carson was a good professor for American Political Development. He is a tough grader, but if you put in the work you can make an A- or A. There was not a textbook just articles that could be found online and 3 books that we had to buy for the class. Make sure you participate in class.

I would not recommend to take his class, he got the print out and reads off it, 20% of grades is attendance, movies most of the class and got TA with limited knowledge and poor attitude. Disagree with grade, got come following semester to discuss, too late is not it?! Grades have been submitted already, so that means to even think to ask for help!

You are expected to read a good amount and before class but his lectures are almost straight out of the book so if you ever forget, just take good notes. Dr. Carson is an engaging professor and his class was pretty fun, just be prepared for a lot of note taking. His tests are MC, fill in the blank, and short answer. All pretty straight forward

Dr. Carson is a phenomenal professor. His class reading assignments vary depending on which class it is and how big it is, but for the Congressional Elections class we had discussions instead of lectures. Reading is super helpful, but not entirely necessary if you take good notes. Loved his class, and I learned a lot. Awesome dude--highly recommend

This class was very heavy in reading and participation. Some of the reading is long but there are some short assignments thrown in the mix. Classes can be awkward if no one is participating as he will stand there for a minute waiting for someone to respond to his questions. There are no power points so get ready to write your own notes.

Don't take! The Midterm is doable, but the final is ridiculous. It has questions that are so specific that it is even hard looking up answers after the exam. Paper: grades the paper with a vague rubric/marks off points for almost anything. You HAVE TO SPEAK in class! Just showing up doesn't cut it. Class has an illusion of "easy", he makes it hard!

Alright class - generally very boring. I wouldn't recommend anyone take this class unless you want to hear someone droning on and on about the same thing for an hour. Attendance and participation is mandatory - he's very unclear about the grading systems. Honestly, the tests are easy with sometimes one or two random questions that make zero sense.

Took legislative process with Dr. Carson. Nice guy who's very interested in and knowledgeable about the subject. Lectures are dull at times but not boring. Tests are not difficult - some material comes straight out of the textbook he edited and the rest is from lectures. Grading was fair. Would recommend this class.

Honors section on the congressional elections. pretty easy stuff, not hard to understand. i don't think he's a hard grader, but some people do. he's a cool guy who you can have conversations w/ outside of poli sci. jokes around some. you probably do need to buy the book.

Just an alright class. Sits on the front table and talks about broad topics. Thought he graded the essays on tests a little harsh. Nice guy, but did not really enjoy how he presented the material. Not difficult to get a "B" but doing better requires much work.

Definitely an interesting class. Dr. Carson is a great professor- Tests were all short answer/essay, but if you study you'll do well. He's a very fair grader, available in his office all the time, very willing to help students. He is certainly knowledgeable about the subject, and discussion in the class was very open and informative.
