He really did seem like a very nice man, but nice doesn't teach me math. He took what should have been simple concepts and made them ridiculously hard. I mean going to the MARC every day after class. Avoid this professor.

His tests are very difficult, but he curved them. Expects you to know a concept after he shows an example in class. Very difficult to follow overall

He's a tough grader but is clear in his teaching. I Would take him again but he's retiring :( will see what I have to say after my second test today. Also he cures the grades so it helps.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR. Kemper is really nice but he just makes this class too tough. Like others have said, his examples are much too advanced compared to the homework. He almost never uses the book unless a student specifically requests it. Everything is out of Webassign. He is also very stingy about partial credit on exams and quizzes.

He was a decent teacher, but overall pretty difficult I'd say. Pretty bad at explaining material, especially for the weekly quizzes.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He is a very nice man, however he does make the class near impossible. If you have any other choice at this University, take them. He jumps right to extremely complex work, when you still need to understand basic principles. For a real challenge he would be ok, but if you care about your grade-AVOID!

toally ruined my interest in math. i got an A in his class but that was because i was practically taught by a tutor. he can't explain anything and if you want to do more math after this, you shouldn't do his class otherwise you wont have the basics that you will need for math200, DON'T TAKE HIM!!!!

DO NOT TAKE!!! RUN AWAY!! He cant explain concepts. He tries but it doesnt work out. I learned the entire subject by myself. daily quizzes and questions are so hard that you should only expect best score to be 20/30 maybe...curves on huge curve so the entire class doesnt fail...

He tries, but he's not always the best at explaining the answers to questions; on the upside, he's a really nice guy and grades on an insanely easy curve, so the odds of failing are minimal.

He will thoroughly ruin all interest in mathematics and calculus. He does not explain any concept, while his tests will have problems you have no chance of solving correctly. Most of the time you are better off not attending his class (the textbook has a better chance of keeping you awake). Recommendation DONT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH HIM.

Great prof. Honors section was quite challenging. If you don't get behind, study, and make a solid effort, you will succeed. If you take interest in your classes beyond just doing what is required, you will enjoy him.

He is very bad at explaining the lessons. Use your text book!! I took calculus last year, and I did worse in his class because he explains things in the most complicated ways. If you understand math very well, you will be fine, but if you need more explanation, don't be in this class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!

This class is easy if you are willing to put time in outside of class to study. Homework can be difficult at times.Quizzes are challenging but helpful for learning. Exams are not too difficult. He is VERY helpful if you see him on office hours. From the beginning make sure you use Mathematica, it will be your best friend if you learn it well.

Does a lot of examples but isn't the best at explaining concepts and this makes tests difficult. He also has a semi-short fuse and doesn't like when the class doesn't respond. He curves tests quite a bit.

Not clear at all, does not explain what he expects or teaches it to you. Become friends with your textbook early and visit Cramsters!! All he does is examples, which are simliar to tests. Take MATH 111 if posible. Good Luck!

The material itself isn't really all that complicated. I had taken calc before I took this class and I never had any problems understanding. the biggest issue was the mathematica labs. they suck. If ur not a computer programmer then they can be impossible

Kemper if by far the most thorough math teacher on the St. Thomas staff. If you are taking an upper level applied math course you want to have Kemper. I took three classes from this guy and found that he was my favorite professor at St. Thomas, hands down.
