Comment:

Condescending, unclear, grades subjectively and inconsistently, minimal examples, barely reviews for tests. Sure you can go to office hours, but students need notes and examples for personal reference, to look at on their own time, not just equations. I would never take him again and if he's my only option then I rather not take the class.

Get on his good side right out of the gate! ask a lot of questions in class, He is very passionate about geomechanics and if he sees that you show interest in his class it will be a fun semester. no examples, and very vague when explaining how he wants his projects done. My suggestion, get a copy from someone who had him previously.

He is not bad at all. He does not do examples, but if you go see him he will tell you exactly how to do the homework, step-by-step. He wants students to see him. He responds to email within 10 minutes, without fail. His tests are extremely straight forward. He tells you what will be on it ahead of time. Pay attention and ask questions!

Bad teacher. Totally unclear as to what he's teaching towards the second half of the semester as he never puts up an example on the board ever. In fact I don't believe I've seen a number ever written on the board at all except for constants that are used in equations. Grading is erratic and might or might not take points off for arbitrary reasons.

A lot of whining here. Civil engineering is not one of those things where it's enough to "try hard." You have to be good at it. If I'm driving over a bridge built by engineers, I'd feel a lot better if they'd gotten an A in Dr. Horvath's class. Yes, he's hard. But there's a reason for that.

doesnt seem to know statics too well...will not help you with anything...you will probably fail if you take him... so count on take summer classes to catch up... ive never gotten a below a B in any class at manhattan college and i had to drop(and the effort was defintly there)
