Dr. Woodson was my favorite lit teacher. He is random, but also very smart with fascinating ideas about literary symbolism. Take his class. He's a riot

I took him for both humanities and African American lit from 1940. He is really random and off the wall but sometimes the things that he talks about are interesting. If you read and make a good argument on your paper it's an easy A.

Comment:
His lectures were always very random and not about the material. He is also sarcastic and has no problem putting someone on the spot. We had 3 or 4 short essays (length is up to you) based on the readings which you are allowed to redo until you get an A. There was a midterm but he did not count the grade and there was no final. Easy A.

HE'S REALLY RANDOM IN HIS TEACHING. HE FREQUENTLY GOES OFF TOPIC. HOWEVER, I DID GET AN A SO IM NOT COMPLAINING. BUT, IF YOU WANNA LEARN I DNT SUGGEST TAKING HIM.

Comment:
He's crazy. He spends the class ranting about nothing and insulting the world. For some that is amusing. He lets you redo all your papers and forgets to record the grades. You probably won't have a clue how you're doing in the class until you get your final grade. It's risky, (Woodson's very moody) but you might manage to come out with an easy A.

I gave this guy all 3's because if you take him for a class that is designed solely for English majors, it is very hard. But if you take him for an Arts & Sciences division A elective, piece of cake. Pretty much what I am saying is, take him if you're not an English major, and avoid him if you are... and keep your major on the down low around him.

Comment:
This guy is kind of like Dr. Smart in respect to lecturing about life in general and not the actual course. I think he just likes to utilize class to get his points out to people. You'll have a very easy one page paper for every book you read. Woodson is a bit eccentric, but really funny. In my opinion, I think he'd be a great philosophy professor.

Do you want to know how much of an easy A this is? Go to class & be entertained by Woodson's comedy... unless you have studying to do in another class. Hand in your one paragraph "paper." If it's written in reference to a certain theme, easy A. If it stinks, you're dumb, but you can redo it without penalty. If he forgets to grade it, automatic A.

he expects essays of content not length. if you can say it in 1 page instead of 4, all the better. he doesn't sugar coat anything and tells you his truth for you to do whatever with it. he's cool with grade cause I got a B in the class an only did 2 out of 5 assignments, and i never did the final.

i thought this class was fairly easy...you do have to write about 4-5 essays, but i think as long as what you write is clear and makes sense i dont think it matters whether you have the "right" answer...dr. woodson is kinda crazy though so beware of some off the wall topics
