whew, this class was something else. there was a huge group project that spanned way too long in the semester worth a lot of points. I spent a long time studying each time and somehow came out with an A. she is very strict on all grades, you can't bs a paper or an assignment. its a tough class but if you work really hard you can have an a/b

Best professor I have ever had. I loved spending my afternoons attending her lectures, she made them interesting and fascinating. There are two tests and 3 writing assignments, but they are not hard if you attend, take notes, study, and ask for help if you need any. Lovely person!

Don't take her. The material isn't hard, but she's one of those teachers who refuses to give full credit for assignments. You'll get an 8990 with the feedback "AMAZING JOB!" She doesn't tell you exactly what she wants beforehand, but whatever you provide is never enough. For exams, you have to write everything you know about everything or fail.

She has two tests and the non-comprehensive final counting the same as a test. Honors class has four quizzes on scholarly articles, and the 5-6 page paper is on the article of your choice. She pretty much gives you the essay topic for the tests, and you only need to know 35-45 slides for each test. Not as bad as I thought it would be and got an A.

3 exams (including non comprehensive final) that are identification and essay, 1 paper, plus iclicker attendance/quiz grades every day. Not a bad teacher if you're an art major but requires too much for just a fine art credit. About 30-40 pieces of art (artist, title, time, place) to memorize for every test, plus terms and the essay. Very boring.

Her class is so boring. Compared to more art history teachers, she doesn't make you memorize a whole lot of paintings but it took every ounce of energy I had to stay awake and listen to her. EXTREMELY boring class, and you have to work really hard to get an A

I believe she would be a great teacher if I had taken her with an upper class. However, in Art History 2 she is hard for such a simple subject. She knows too much and requires too much studying for this kind of class. She didn't seem terribly helpful though. Kind of cold and distant.

Great teacher. This class takes some studying, but its not hard. Some people will like the material, others will not. If you know the study guides you will get an A in the class. She grades the paper on pure effort, not grammer or compostion. I think she is a BABE and i would ask her out if i was over 30. she has the sexy artsy look. Damn.

Ok, so I'm a huge dork and like this stuff anyway, but she does have her doctor's degree in Italian Renaissance Art so she knows her stuff and can teach you everything. Her tests are very hard to study for but she grades the essays very easy (this also goes for papers).If she likes you she will push you to try your hardest(I've had her a few times)

I wasn't expecting to enjoy the class (Ren. Art in Italy), but De Vries made it interesting. She's really not hard at all, and grades the essays lightly, but the essays on the final are a *****! If you pick an interesting subject for your paper and write well, she will love you forever.

Biggest **** in the whole wide world. the class is pretty easy if your upper level but do not! take her for art history 1, 2, or 3. you'll have so much to study and essay exams and a paper. the other art history proffesors dont make you do anything. take braden if you can, she's great.

Comment:

Very good teacher, knows her stuff. All you have to do is go to class take notes on what she says and you will do fine. she also takes attendance and if you leave in the middle of class she is likely to give a quiz.
