Comment:
The grading scale felt very unfair, realistically class was based solely on discussions and he says that this grade (my average discussion grades) 3.6/4 is a B+... It's like he doesn't round either lol but I guess the class was pretty straightforward but come on how do you not get an A in a basic sociology class?

Book not really needed, copy in class slides as that is really all you need. Exam is 8 essay questions but he practically gives the questions to you during the review. Takes attendance but as long as you do good on exams it really isn't mandatory. Exams were easy he just expects a lot to be written down and compares you to what other students put.

Amazing professor! Wish I could take all of my classes with him. Took SOC101 in the summer. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but it's ideal you don't miss any of his classes. Thoroughly explains everything and kindly answers questions. He's funny and really empathizes with his students. Is very specific about what will be in his tests (essay exams).

Police and Community. His class isn't that interesting, 2 tests (hard) 8 long response questions and a group project. Attendance is mandatory

Professor Dunham is the best! I took a criminology class with him. He is SUPER clear, very sweet and will answer all of your questions. He provides good preparation for all his test and wants students to do good. Don't skip class!! Class lecture is much more important than outside reading

Took him for police and community. He's such a sweet man and if you ask for help he will definitely give it to you but his tests are tough and your entire grade is a mid term, final, and pop quizzes. The tests are 8 essay questions and you have to be very specific. However, he must curve the grades because I expected a C- and got a B+

Professor Dunham is the nicest guy, and will go out of his way to help his students ! I love him so much and will take every class he teaches. Attendance is not mandatory, which is good because it is sometimes boring, and also interesting like movies on how to deal with cops, cheating is very easy to do and and most of the class matter is logic

The subject matter in this class was awesome! The book was a little dull and the lectures were dry as well, but the research project assigned makes the class enjoyable.

Dr. Dunham is a sweetheart! His lectures/teaching style are Ivy League quality. This class in particular was very interesting, and he always uses personal stories as examples to help students identify with the material. Only 3 exams, and they do cover a lot of material, but it isn't too difficult. Just keep up with the material and you'll do fine.

Sweet professor! Lectures are very informative & interesting (even though I admit falling asleep couple times) He gives the all the poss Qs (~ 30) so u kno wat to expect on exam, then picks 8. Grade is midterm, final& popquiz. quizzes at the end of each theory so u know when it's coming & more or less what to expect. i take good notes & have an A.

Excellent professor, although classes are boring. Attendance mandatory, and all tests are in essay format. But he provides great reviews before the test and the material is easy to grasp if copy powerpoints down (not on Blackboard, you need to show up for class). Textbook only necessary for 1 or 2 questions on test (out of 8)

Don't buy book. Tests are from lecture. Class is a test in memorization more than application. But I will say that he knows his stuff and he is a very nice guy. High pressure (a lot of material) midterm worth 1/3 than another high pressure final worth 1/3 and then section pop quizes worth 1/3. He tells you what is on each test..but it's just alot.

He is an excellent professor. He explains everything in class. His exams are essays. You can write as much as you know about the subject. He'll tell the class what the test will consist of. Take him, no doubt.

His tests are free response full essay. You must demonstrate full knowledge of each topic, which in his mind means you need to memorize the book as well as his lectures. He is a wonderful person and is an expert in his field, but is impossible as an undergrad professor. He should stick to grad level work.

I took him for a Criminology class and it was extremely boring!! All theories covered mentioned most of the same exact characteristics therefore it was easy to get them confused. One 15 plus paper due at the end plus a final exam. His grading is difficult. You should ask what grading rubric he is using?? Don't take this course unless you have to

Unnecessarily hard. A lot of material to absorb and convey to him that you know all aspects of a certain theory. Taking him as an undergraduate I find his courses are just flat out ridiculous (I took his policing course prior to coming to this site)

I took a summer course but I still learned a lot. He was a great professor. He is very straight forward and taking notes is easy. Basically all I had to do was show up to class and review my notes and/or book before the exams. Definitely top-notch quality.
