Gave us the wrong midterm for our first test and everyone bombed it and she didn't seem to care. Nice woman but she's just like a human a Chegg. Throws up a problem and goes through the steps without really explaining anything. No use in going to class just do the homework over and over until you know it

If you can do the homework then you can do the exam. Unfortunately the homework was implausible to do it by yourself. The worse thing was, she was not even prepared to answer any questions. The topic of the lecture includes random physiology terms and confusing math equations that are not being elaborated much.

If you want a professor who wants you to read a new 10 page article a week in order for you to learn it yourself, then reads off of slides in class without elaborating much on them or going over examples, take her. If not, don't.

Makes this class an extremely passable class. She will post optional homework on blackboard, in which it is highly recommended to do all of those problems several times. If done, nothing lower than an A is not possible. There are 10 quizzes(only 8 are graded), and 4 exams. Getting 100% or higher on exams is possible.

Not much to say other than her being a really good professor. Not very accessible outside of class but she makes sure you understand during lecture.

You have to do the homework to get practice in for the exam and quizzes. Homework is optional, but it's a must to practice the methods you learn in this class. She gives the exact same concept and listening quizzes that she goes over in lecture on the test just memorize them all. Go to the review sessions, the tests are very similar.

I found her to be an overall good professor. Just study the power point slides and do the homework and the exams are similar. Usually helpful during office hours. In general, she wasn't particularly personable, but in this case, a good professor is preferable over someone you would want to invite to lunch.

Newman is a good teacher. She is clear and just as long as you do the homework problems you will be prepared for the tests. And attend lectures, you can get extra credit the day before test and in lecture she gives answers to multiple choice ?'s. And Vi was the TA, and she was very helpful, attend her review sessions! :)

Very clear and thorough in her directions and examples. Attendance isn't mandatory. Lots of extra credit. Exams are very easy if you've done the homework and studied the multiple choice questions from the slides. Take her!

One of engineering's worst teachers. She's very passive aggressive and demeaning to her students. Next to useless in office hours, has the 'go learn it yourself' attitude, very minimal help. I'm sure she's a great researcher, but she just doesn't have the gift of teaching.

She isn't concerned with outreaching to the students. She often comes to class unorganized and in a bad mood. She tends not to be very helpful and uses the excuse that she is very busy with her own projects. this brings me to my obvious question, so why be a teacher?

While she does go over power point questions quickly, she is very thorough with her written out examples. Quizzes are extremely easy and you can redo like 3 times. MUST study out of the book and I suggest doing every problem. If you have to take Statics, take with her. DO NOT TAKE DEMASI (did i spell that right?)

Not a fan. She either went through problems so fast you couldn't possibly follow along, or she'd get stuck in the middle and admit she hadn't looked at the problem before class. It seemed like she didn't care about this class. Worst part- her Blackboard quizzes were difficult and full of frustrating gliches and counted for 40% of final grade.

Great professor who is well prepared, encourages discussion, and seems to genuinely love teaching this particular class. 2 design projects both require extensive use of SolidWorks, one requires familiarity with COSMOS/FEA simulation--together they make up 75% of your grade. Really good field trips--she enjoys exposing her students to industry.

May-Newman is a great teacher who is always well prepared, knows her stuff, and is very interested in fostering discussion. The effort put into the class is largely proportional to your grade. Only complaint is, she's near impossible to reach via e-mail. Best option to your questions is to ask during OH or to figure out your questions yourself.

Test are fair and homework preps you for it if you do it. Good teacher but when I took her she lectured off power point which I did not like. She does put her power point lectures on the web if you miss a class.

Now I got an A in the course, but it was only and I mean only because I studied my ass off at home. Do good on the first test cause its the easiest and you can drop the final.
