Professor Doughan is a really nice guy. He lets you use your book, notes, and computer for all of his tests and quizzes so its a pretty easy class to get a good grade in.

Comment:

Hes one of the nicest professors Ive met since I started school. Hes also the worst professor Ive ever had since Ive started school. His tests are near impossible to study for as he gives nothing in terms of notes. He reads from the book and tells stories, but the tests and quizzes are based on handouts given. I wouldnt expect over a B-.

attendance isnt mandatory, lectures are just him talking from textbook and no visuals so i wish he changed that :/ few quizzes and midterm/final were open book +laptops. you can get a b just like that. very nice guy and SUPER sweet, if you miss class talk to him! i was so surprised he gave me a mini-lecture, it put a smile on my face.

Good tax professor who covers interesting aspects of corporate tax and tells interesting stories at the beginning of class. Class structure is clear with homework, quiz, then exam for midterm and final. Only tests on what was covered in the classroom. Gives handouts of returns and problems to possibly expect on exams and quizzes.

Comment:

Nice old guy who has some very interesting stories on tax. Clear in telling students what to expect on homeworks, quizzes, and exams but difficult to take notes from as he talks out of book without writing on board nor telling students what to take note of, so textbook is needed to do well in this course.

I really enjoyed Professor Doughan's class. He brings a lot of outside knowledge and tells personal stories about his career that relate to the subject matter. We go over a lot of material, but he gives you an idea of what to study before the exam, and the problems are just like the quizzes and homework. The tests are also open book/notes.

He is all over the place.. many times late to class (even on test days), does not reply to e-mails and like some raters pointed out here, his tests are tricky. Can't really review prior to test because the material is not based on the textbook. I also dislike his grading policy so I do not recommend him to students.

No, do not take him.. Bad teaching (didn't learn anything) and his tests are tricky.. it is not based on the textbook material but on his own notes (and they are tricky). Do not recommend.

He is amazing! He is extremely intelligent and he is a very fair grader. I took him for tax 310 and am now taking him for tax 311. One of my favorite professors! Plus he is VERY nice!

He does not even teach! I do feel cheated of my money. All he does is coming to class and going over some main points. Not deep enough for a CPA or accounting major. V. Barella is way better!

Grade based soley on two exams. Keeps you for an hour. You will learn nothing. You will leave this class feeling cheated out of your tuition money. Take anyone else if you dont want to be the only person at your internship with no tax knowledge!

The class is boring but easy. His not an easy greader thou, but exams are open books, no h/w and he lets you out early.
