Comment:

Real nice guy and always available to help, but such dry lectures! Nonstop chalkboard writing, no schtick, no humor, no breaks! But, you could not show up at all for class, do a few homework problems, do his review exam, and only show up for his review lecture the class before the exam and get an A in the class.

Horrible at explaining things. His lectures are confusing as he goes from one thought to another and back randomly and without explanation. Very smart guy but forgets that he is teaching this to students who are most likely seeing this stuff for the first time and not other PROFESSORS! If you do take him then prepare to teach yourself. Exam av 50%

Prof Sevilla's is a hard professor, and his tests are hard. i barely would show up to class and just teach myself everything from the textbook. if you have the solutions manual, USE IT. it's a huge blessing. He dropped the lowest exam grade for us after seeing how much we were suffering in his class. IF you can teach urself the stuff take him

Prof Sevilla is hands down the worst professor I have ever had. His lectures were so boring & very unclear. His exams were very hard (avg around 55%). I have never skipped a class, but I skipped his bc it was useless to attend. Instead of working out pract problems, he would just verbally explain it. I ended up teaching myself everything.

Sevilla was super nice, but one of the worst professors I've had. He rushes through slides making it difficult to write most things down. He didn't explain problems well, he'd give a problem on one slide then go to the next slide with the answer without explaining. Super hard exams (class exam avg 50-60%) I learned more from yahoo answers than him

i thought he was going to be so much better than the last professor i had for Gen Chem 2 (hadyen) but no, i was wrong. i've studied my ass off for all the exams and still did bad. He is NOT and easy professor, his exams are so hard, its my second time retaking this class now i have to take it again. his exams are very difficult and wants u to fail.

I was pumped for p-chem, then I took him. The material is hard, but I think he made it harder. He had fair tests, but only if you could teach yourself about the concepts listed on his review handouts since he was so unclear about them during lecture. Provides us with note handouts which is good... average prof, but definitely not the best

Nice teacher, I agree not good for 8 am if you can help it.. Attendance to lecture is really not mandatory, although probably would help your grade by 0.2 or so.. Review sessions are useless on non-quiz days. I recommend him over Russel but I got the same grades in both classes, just had to study a little harder and go to class in Russel's.

looks like orville redenbacher (literally my roomate and i compared :]) but good professor. i dont recommend taking him at 8am like I did. Helpful, I even used him as a source in my research paper for RHT160 & he took a true interest. you will need to use your book, study, & do the online homework, but not working too hard you can still get a 3.5

Prof Sevilla is an EXCELLENT prof for chm157! I enjoyed his class very much and I thought his lectures were very helpful and clear. The class isn't easy and it requires a lot of work outside class like online hw and studying to do well. This isn't a class you just attend and do well in. Sevilla is a great help and I highly recommend him to anyone!

He is a good teacher, but i too had trouble following along in class. But if you just take notes in class and study from textbook with your notes you should be fine. I ended up studying from the textbook more than from his notes and i got an A on every test. You can't expect the prof to do everything for you you have to do most of the work yourself

Prof Sevilla is a great professor and an even better person. I think some previous posters confuse chm being a difficult subject with him being a difficult prof. Also class avg was more like 70-75% before curve. GO TO CLASS, take notes, do the online hw, and look over the ppt lectures posted on moodle and you will do well. Best chm prof at OU.

He is a helpful and very kind professor. However he is not a very good professor. His tests although multiple choice were hard. The class average for all 3 exams averaged between 55%-65%. So I know it is not just me who struggled in this class. Again, he is very nice and helpful, however his lectures are very confusing and hard to follow.

Went from 2.0 in CHM 157 to a 3.8 in 158 because of this teacher. He is awesome and made CHM much easier to bear with. He's extremely intelligent, but in a humble way. Very approachable and his lectures are even interesting sometimes. Take notes in class, do the online homework/practice quizes, study your notes, and u will come out w/ a solid grade

I took prof Sevilla for Chem 158.HE IS AWESOME! I never understood chem until I had him. The only time he encourages you to read the book is if you do not understand something, otherwise go with the lecture notes. Everything he lectures IS ON THE EXAM (25-30 quest) He was an awesome prof that really cared about his students passing. Gives CURVE!!!

The nicest professor at OU!!! He definitely knows his stuff. His lectures were a bit boring but understandable. The book helps a lot too. He's willing to meet anytime to help you out. Take him for sure! His tests are not easy but they're fair. Final exam was a killer though.

awesome teacher tests are easy
