Comment:

Almeida is such a great prof, I would totally take his class again. The class itself is not hard, you just have to pay attention and go to class. He is always willing to answer questions, and help you understand something. There is only three tests, and they are all online, he also gives you the questions that are on the test beforehand. TAKE HIM!

Comment:

Almeida is such a sweet and hilarious professor. Really good teaching style (many examples, SI session) and overall easy class to get an A on. Ask questions if you are confused! He is glad to help. Try forming study groups to help study, practicing helps a lot.

I took this class as an elective but boy was I dumb for doing that. It was way tougher than I thought it would be, just the material itself and how quickly he moved on. I would consider myself an above average student and taking this as a Junior really was a slap in the face (and a slap to my GPA as well)

I never opened the book, received an A. Quizzes and exams are all lectured passed. I will say if you miss a lecture you may be lost, others notes might not do much good because of all the details. Almeida made this Ethics course relatable and I didnt completely hate it. Hes an excellent professor. 3 exams & 10 quizzes. LOTS of extra credit.

Comment:

Overall, this course was interesting and easy to grasp. I would recommend taking him to anyone who needs to fulfill a philosophy pre-req. The only thing about this course is that you HAVE to show up for class to understand the content and get the notes needed to digest the information. He gives A LOT of extra credit! Loved his class.

I only took this class because it was a must have, but Professor Almeida made it easier. He is very passionate about his teaching and had the class laughing most times. His handwriting is so small though so i urge you to sit in the front of the class or else you will be squinting the whole time. You didn't need the book, and he can be confusing.

He was an excellent professor. His lectures are very to the point and easy to understand with lots of examples. Never even had to buy the book. I LOVE taking his classes. There's no attendance grade, but I highly recommend you show up to each class because you'll have a harder time catching up if you don't.

He is AWESOME! He is seriously having me consider a minor in philosophy. My only hopes are that I only like philosophy because of him.. There is only one neg comment on here about him and that is by someone who can't even spell plague (see last) TAKE HIM YOU WON'T REGRET IT! You laugh and learn which are both very important! :)

I took PHI of Religion and Moral Issues in Contemporary America. I found his lectures absolutely fascinating. His lectures are very concise and to the point. I take very good notes so I really had no need for the textbooks in either class. Almeida is one of my favorite profs and Im not even a PHI major. He comes highly recommended!

Almeida is an absorbing professor who uses great examples and a concise style which I thought made learning the material inevitable (just go to class). He gives two tests, both are essay/short answer. He gives you 5 essay questions at least a week before the test, 2 of which will be on the test, 1 of which you have to do. I loved him & the class!

Approaches:Knowledge & Reality: Almeida is amazing and this class makes you think. Grade = midterm + final, both are in-class essays but you get the prompts in advance. Attendance is highly recommended, he gives extra info in class that the book omits. Highly Recommended Professor for any class. Very clear and I laughed a lot.

Professor Almeida is an incredibly lucid thinker. His lectures are very interesting and he is always willing to answer questions. I got the feeling in this class that this is how my other classes should be: clear and concise. Loss of brevity and ostentation may infect most professors, but not Professor Almeida. His intellect is self-evident.

If you go in there with an open mind and are willing to learn you will come out of there with a great appreciation for the course and its material. Highly recommended. He is an awesome teacher. i have him early in the morning, but i am never tired because his lectures are so interesting. he gives essay tests, but he gives you the essay options in advance. if you have the notes, you will do good in the class. he doesnt take attendance
