I am currently sitting in class questioning why I did not look up this teacher before I registered for him course. HORRIBLE ! He does not assign a book. He does not post anything online to review for his course. Carlson reads off a power point (that he does not upload to canvas) and expects his students to learn from YOUTUBE videos he show us.

Took him for Bio 2 lab. absolutely the #1 WORSE TEACHER. never tell you what's going to be cover on the practical. Half of time, he's not even there,he'd to asked other professor to "sub" for him. STAY AWAY from this teacher. he took forever to post your grade on angel. He will never help you or tell you what to study for the practical.BAD teacher

He is a HORRIBLE teacher. He never emails you back or posts any grades. He has 50 question tests that consist of content he does not cover in class. If you confront him about anything, he will automatically blame you for his mistakes. I could go on and on about how bad of a teacher he is.

He was honestly the worst teacher that I have ever had. I was looking forward to taking this class because I liked science but wow, was I in for a surprise. He doesn't care about his students and he makes fun them. I was an A student and my mom is a bio major/tutor AND I GOT A C. I would not take him again if he was the last bio prof on earth.

He was the worst science teacher I have ever had. He picks favorites and doesn't grade fairly. I ended up recieving a low B on a paper and he won't justify the grade whatsoever. His tests are 50 questions on material he doesn't cover in class. Beware, he's a power point reader and expects you to learn everything by yourself.

Some may really enjoy his class but not all. He doesn't cover questions in class that he puts on the test. His term paper was graded really easy and he's fair as long as you participate in class. His tests were the hardest part because they are all 50 questions and what he claims the test is about isn't accurate. Honestly i don't recommend him.

Horrible teacher. He puts stuff on tests that he never teaches and covers way too much material and is totally unclear. He gets mad at you that you don't know the material - duh, that's why I'm taking a class in it. He gives assignments that he doesn't explain well. Never take this teacher.

I took Dr. Carlson for my Bio Lab. He made class entertaining and educational. Grades are based on participation during the lab and we usually had worksheets we would turn in. Nothing that was overwhelming. I learned a lot and had lots of laughs in this class. He's one of the best professors at SPC by far. (He even saved a shark from dying!)

A bit distracted, not entirely prepared for class, but overall does a good job. His class is relatively easy just study the material and you will do fine. Most of the people in my class either got an A or a B as a final grade. He grades easy on tests and does not give alot of busy work. Not the worst Bio professor at this school.

2010 Lab- Dr Carlson is cool! Really fair grader on tests! He obviously knows a TON about Biology. 25+ yrs at FL fish/wildlife. He has a sense of humor, (although I could see how someone might get their feelings hurt) (Only complaint- wish he had the time to put grades in Angel) Overall, he's a great Professor, take him when he has a class!

He is a fabulous teacher. Reading the comments below, I think that if someone felt humiliated in class by him, it was because he is simply too intelligent for them to keep up with. He's brilliant, fun, has a great sense of humor and a wealth of experience. He also illustrated how to home-brew beer, which makes him my hero.

He's fine most of the time, my biggest problem with him though is that he is more then willing to ingratiate the rest of the class by trying to humiliate others. Not only are his attempts foolish, but childish and often can end with him turned on his ear.

Took for Bio Lab, easy papers to do, easy quizzes, makes the class interesting. Had some good field trips, with easy papers on those. Great class and teacher.
