If you are struggling in his class, he will mock you. I asked him how to improve grades and he offered to have a phone call with him. He basically said I needed to grind, and I don't have friends and it's my problem. I feel sad for him, as I feel he was talking about himself. Also, he never prepares for classes, just came in and starts to ramble.

He goes on and on and likes to talk about himself and indicating his a happy married guy and stuff. Nobody cares. I don't understand what is wrong with him. He seems to be an energetic person, but too bad, can't teach.

He really thinks he is some sort of rich guy who becomes rich because of his expertise at understanding tax..... Honestly.... He is mediocre, and not rich. On a second thought, he is not that smart either, as he over-projects himself.

Comment:

He is a bang average teacher but he is extremely lecture heavy so sometimes its pretty difficult to pay attention. Midterm and final, 40% each and some annotations that are worth 20%. He didn't really prepare the class that well for the tests, he kinda just threw the information at us and we had to essentially "grind for the grade".

Tax class was terrible. A's on exams don't mean an A in the class ("you have to work hard for it" in his opinion. But an A on exam means you worked very hard. Most get nowhere near that as he doesn't prepare you for exams. Lectures inefficient with too much talk about his family etc. Worst acct professor I've had so far.

Comment:

Grading is midterm (40%), final (40%), readings (interesting) with annotations (annoying) (20%). His presentations are the worst, they are really old and sometimes hard to understand what he means in them. I will never take him again based on that. Exams are tough but if you study with the breakout problems he provides, you should be fine.

Comment:

Meticulous subject made more difficult by Prof Kushel. Long-winded, sloppy old notes and convoluted lectures. Kushel continually misled on degree of difficulty and format/content of exams - double whammy since only 2 grades! Extremely heavy work load for just an elective course. Avoid, especially if you are PMBA or do not plan to further study Tax.

Many students said Professor Kushel is good. However, I think he is awful since he didnt know how to guide a failed student. I got a poor score in mid-term test, and the professor told me to give him a call to discuss it. I really appreciated it at that time but on the phone he told me I had a social problem, because I cant form a study group

Good professor who makes tax easy to understand. Definitely take good notes and understand the examples because that is what is tested on rather than the book. Put in the effort and you'll do well

Kushel is a great professor who makes difficult topics easy to understand. You really dont need to read the book, but take great notes in his class. The exams are tough, but fair and consist mostly of his examples he goes over in class. Very responsive and likes to help his students.

Kushel is a great professor, I really enjoyed the class. One of the best at Fordham GBA. Material is not difficult necessarily but you have a lot to memorize/practice if you want to do well. Only grades are midterm and final. Take good notes, attend class and study and you will do fine.

The material is tough and boring, and Kushel is very demanding. But it pays off. He's easily the most responsive/helpful professor in the school. He has an excellent approach to a subject that otherwise makes people cringe.

Loved his class! Kushel is a great professor, who knows how to make such a boring subject fun and interesting. His exams are straight forward, with no surprises- EVERYTHING that he lectures, he later tests. I HIGHLY recommend him!
