You can tell he thoroughly enjoys teaching environmental studies, but his lectures can be a tad boring. It is easy to pass his tests, though. Literally everything is on the lecture ppts. He's an enjoyable professor, definitely.

He was a really nice old man. He made silly jokes that made class entertaining. He has two midterms, one final, which were super easy (I got a 97 on the second midterm) and three volunteer projects. PLUS he has a generous curve (over 85 is an A). He's very passionate about what he teaches. I thoroughly enjoyed this class!

The class brought several issues to my attention about the environment and he did a good job presenting the information and kept the lectures moving quickly. He added videos and several images to mix up the slides. Don't take the class if you just want to get bio credit, take it if you want to help the environment and make a difference.

Take my advice: Go to EVERY lecture, pay attention. The class is VERY easy if you just PAY ATTENTION. If you like the Discovery Channel, Planet Earth, or even animals, class is cool. People complain cuz they are lazy and sleep. Assignments easy. Exams = lots of info, but lecture helps. Review notes thats it. Sweet passionate man. I really liked him

The course isn't rocket science, so small errors are costly. The class is 70% memorization, which at time you have to do so you may as well get practice in it. The writing assignments/ projects are fun though. He really does not like when students skip class, so watch out if you do.

Lectures sucked b/c he's boring, switched up attendance reqs on us, but not a bad guy. Tests were easy, lectures were clear, never really asked him or the TA's for help. If anything is wrong with the guy it's that listening to him is comparable to watching paint dry or eating soggy cereal, but he is passionate, so "to each his own" I guess.

Ignore what people below say in terms of US 13B. The information may be the same from day to day, but they are still very important issues about conservation. He's EXTREMELY passionate about the subject he's teaching, his tests are open book / open note and very easy, and he's a good person to talk to. Not the best but not the worst prof.

easy class, tests are all based on the lectures, don't even buy the book.. trust me, it's pointless. switches lecture to mandatory attendance in the middle of the quarter... WOW. passionate, but too passionate. he crossed the line. i would say avoid, but the class is pretty damn easy.

The worst professor of my life. Lectures are mind-numbingly boring, each lecture is exactly the same as the last, and everything he says is stated exactly verbatim on the slides. B/c he's so boring, people stop going to class, so he changes class policy at the very end of the quarter without telling anyone, making class attendance mandatory. AVOID.

WORST professor of my college career, so far. he's bipolar when it comes to attendance. lecture material is exactly the same every single lecture and are excruciatingly boring. at the end, noone goes so he has a sign in sheet. changes policy half way through the course without notice. absolutely useless professor! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!

BioSci 65 is one of the required "core" courses for the Global Sustainability minor, but unlike the other core or elective classes it really has nothing to do with the minor. The class basically consists of a huge amount of detailed-oriented factoids pertaining to random animals and plantlife most of which do not even exist today. Not worth it.

There is no such thing as a CURVE in this class. The class was difficult because you have to know alot of (what i thought was) pointless material. If you're detail oriented take the course, if not, avoid it.

This class was hard. Lectures were dry, and you have to know all the little details. If you're detail oriented, take the course. If you're not, don't expect to do well. There's no HUGE curve. I wouldn't recommend taking the course

Lectures are painfully boring and no one shows up. Made attendance mandatory second half of class and then told us it didn't count for anything. Tests are ridiculous just like this class. Says there is a curve but apparently there isn't because I got 70% in the class and it was a C- just like it would be without a curve. DON'T TAKE AS BREADTH

If only there had been a curve, what a misleading assumption that turned out to be. I'm guessing that it really depends on what kind of teaching assistant you had, such as the ridiculously unfair stubborn guy that was TA for the Spring quarter. He made attendance mandatory and then tells us that it's not counted in our final grade!?!

Class itself is ridiculously boring, and he made lecture mandatory halfway through the quarter because no one showed up. Writing assignments were a pain, and the midterms and final were tricky as they didn't relate to what he taught and often covered material that we hadn't covered yet. Apparently there's a big curve that I'm yet to experience. Pi

midterm and final was completely from lectures. textbook readings were hardly used and mid/final were both open note. only thing is there is a lot of note-taking in class and he asks very specific questions. posts notes online. is very passionate about the subject, which is nice.
