I was extremely excited for this course and this carried through for a few weeks. After taking an entire term with Prof. Smith I soon came to realize she is terrible at communication, organization and laying out what exactly she expects of you in class. Her grading is poor and she loses a lot, so make record of EVERYTHING!

Honestly, Robin is a great professor. Her classes are reading heavy, but if you do the work you truly learn the information. Her tests seem crazy, but she grades them on a curve so you end up getting a decent grade. If you do the work youll pass with flying colors. Shes very easy to get ahold of outside of class through email as well.

I'm in the middle of writing my midterm essay for this professor and already know I'll get a failing grade on it. She doesn't care about her students especially when they come to her saying they're struggling. Almost impossible to get her to answer my emails with genuine questions in them. It is her way or no way (which is failing).

At first this class seemed like it would be a breeze. Smith is very kind and understanding. I felt that the class structure of lecture Monday discuss the study guide Wednesday was a bit strange. Often Smith would get distracted and conversations would linger on and on. More people got Fs on the midterm than people who got As, and thats with a curve

It was supposed to be an intro class, and I have taken higher level courses before in the 300s and this one was the toughest class I have ever taken. She is not understanding at all. I had unfortunately came down with a horrible stomach flu and from a doctor couldn't make it so when I informed her she would not take an e-copy it had to be handed in

I took Smith for a Physical Anthropology class, 214D. Hated every single second of that class. She was condescending, rude, and explained very obvious things without explaining anything you were actually confused about. We were required to memorize, word for word, Darwin's thesis on evolution (among other things), and tested on it.

Smith is a very nice lady in general. She cares sometimes a little too much on her students actually knowing the material instead of just memorizing which isnt bad but you know. Get ready to spend countless hours memorizing interesting things word for word. Oh and S a hint do NOT forget to memorize memorize specific detail

I took Dr. Smith for an intro to anth class and absolutely hated every minute of it. However, taking her for Women Cross-Cultural was an amazing time. I loved all of it, and found that she was not nearly as rude and abrasive as she was a few years ago. The work is still hard, and participating is required but all you need to do is actually read

I took this class for part of my LACCs and I hated every moment of it. She is rude and degrading and makes the course almost unbearable. Her tests are 20-30 pages long and they include material that we sometimes didnt even go over. Im expecting to fail this class along with the rest of my class mates. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES, youll regret it.

Good teacher and a great class, but know you'll be expected to have something to say every class. If you don't speak up, she will prompt you to, so always at least skim the readings. She's very helpful outside of class though and will help if you're not understanding something.

She is a good teacher. I have taken 2 different classes with her, each class was difficult at times but if you go to class and turn in work on time, getting a good grade is not hard. I am not even science major but ANTH215D and 311 were both interesting.

I'm a senior in ANTH and I took Dr. Smith for an intro to arch. my freshman year and vowed never to take her again. Unfortunately with a major in anth you are required to take one of two courses and they're both taught by her. I have never worked so hard for a course. Take it from me, stay as far away as possible from Dr. Smith.

You're going to suffer, but you're going to be happy about it. Tough teacher, but you actually learn and feel like a real University student, which is rare at WOU. Not for you if you want an easy course for a pre-req or whatever.

Most ridiculous course I have ever taken. It is essentially an independent learning course. You read the text book cover to cover in 10 weeks while she is expecting you to memorize ever bit of information from this text with two lectures the entire term. The other classes she has you sit in a circle and read your questions for that chapter out loud

This is the worst professor I have ever had. The expectations are ridiculous for a introduction class. She isn't helpful when you have questions and puts you down when she gives you answer about something you didn't know. I will never take her class again.

I loved her feedback, and learned a lot about anthropological film. That being said, I feel as if she could have had a better lesson plan. (Final paper was assigned on moodle before we even knew what it was about/ We received topic 3 days before it was due)

Dr. Smith can be tough on you. However, if you come to class, participate, do the reading, study for the exams, you will get an A. She grades her exams on a curve, so don't be too discouraged if you get your exam back and the points reflect a bad grade they do not represent a letter grade, just ask her!

This class was hard, but that's college right? A lot of the course was strait memorization. The tests (1 midterm and 1 final) were packets roughly 10 pages long. She does grade on a curve. She is unclear about what is going to be on the exam and does not provide a study guide. This class is not for some one who wants an easy A.

If you do the work, attend class, and put in effort, there is no way you should fail a class. However, this is NOT a practice of Dr. Smith. The tests are atrocious, and if you don't have the ability to test well, regurgitate her opinion and quote the readings she assigns, your grades will suffer horribly and you will be humiliated in class.
