Dr. Smith really knows his stuff! He also has an old school way of teaching, but it's not that bad. I honestly had my doubts about this class, but as the semester progressed I became accustomed to his methods. Dr. Smith really should consider retiring, because it's frustrating when he makes CONSTANT mistakes on almost everything!

I consider myself a "math guy", but this class was awful. He just walks in, works problems on the board while mumbling incoherently, and leaves without another word. He gives Maple assignments and never explains how to do them. After failing the first two tests I dropped. Take this from another instructor and save Advil.

I LOVE MR.SMITH! This is the most precious old man ever! He may not be the most interesting- but what math class is? He is very helpful during office hours and he gives you practice tests for every test! No cumulative final either. If you go to class, do the homework, and ask questions you will make an A. Learn his teaching style and you'll survive

He is sweet and funny. He explains things more clearly than any math teacher I've ever had. The online homework is frustrating and he writes very small on the board, but he brings print outs almost daily that help and gives practice exams with answers in addition to a study guide. Math has never been so simple.

I don't understand how Dr. Smith has all of these bad reviews. The only complaint that I have about him is that he writes so tiny on the board, it's very hard to read. But he speaks out loud everything that he's writing, so you just have to listen. He's willing to help. If you go to a study session before a test, you won't have problems passing.

I suck at math and Dr. Smith's class was terrible. He knows the material well and is willing to help you if you ask questions, but everything else about the class is bad. He writes really small sometimes so you'd HAVE to sit in the first row to read the board. If there is any other teacher at all teaching this course take him/her instead.

He really just needs to retire. Seems to know the material he teaches so well that he is unable to coherently explain concepts in a simple way that non-expert stats students can understand. His board writing is so small that only the first row could really see it, and that was if he moved out from in front of the board to let students copy it.

Mr. Smith is terrible at teaching basic concepts. Statistics is not that hard, but his teaching makes it difficult to understand anything. He doesn't really answer questions. He mumbles and writes incoherantly, using terms that are not in the book or on the tests. He needs to retire and give. up.

The professor has problems with Clearity and he mumbles on about the homework and problems. When he does the problems on the board his handwriting is so bad and he stands in front of the board so noone can read it.

Smith makes linear algebra harder than it should be and he is extremely boring. This course is theoretically suppose to be an easy A but forget about it if you take Smith. Avoid him at all cost. The worst thing about him is that he NEVER move to let you see the board...

Extremely nice teacher! Would always help you if you asked or went to his office hours. I took summer class, so it was sort of hard since I was learning so much info at once, but it helped to b/c I didnt forget it. If you came to class you could make good grade on tests b/c he takes probs for test from 1s we do in class. Great guy would take again

I am glad to be out of his class. He is a nice man but this class was very hard. One pet peeve of mine was that he would stand right in front of the board as he wrote a problem down and never moved, so you couldn't see what he was writing and you'd have to scrampble to write it down once he moved but by then he was on to the next problem.

Dr. Smith is a very nice, old man. His class is extremely difficult though! He goes through a problem but never moves away from the board, so you end up rushing to copy that problem while understanding the next. Me and my friends refer to him as the "Turtle" because of his slow speech, movement, and appearance.

His class is not hard, but not because of his teaching. He starts talking about an example or a problem from the book and wants you to tell him how to do it, but he has yet to tell you what page he is on or what he wants you to solve. He jumps around every lesson. If the course was not required no one in my class would still be in there.

Dr. Smith is one of those professors that tries really hard, but simply doesn't do the trick for most students. His lectures are tedious, drab, dull, lifeless, monotonous, mundane, stale, unexciting, uninteresting, wearisome, and just outright BORING. I got an A - but it was a painful semester.

Very nice guy! very willing to help and wants you to do well. Linear Algebra is difficult, though. The class is boring and it's hard to keep up because he prints out his own notes, so you have to follow those and try to find it in the book and take notes at the same time. I was lazy with the homework, which really helps. Tests are pretty hard.

Dr. Smith was the worst teacher I have ever had. He does attempt to be useful and answer questions, but he never actually answers questions. He's horrible. Of the four exams, the one that I got the highest grade on was the one where I missed class and had to teach myself the material. My advice, take another professor.
