I would never recommend anyone to take his class. He will give 5 different papers and final with 2500+ words. He will grade only 1 paper and leave the rest until you submit final. So you do not know what's your grade like. He is very tough grader. Even in Corona pandemic he fails more than half of the class.

Leaves room for little to zero mistakes, read heavy, gives you a topic and wants you to teach yourself, grades very very harsh, says hes willing to help but doesnt. Nice guy but he doesnt know how to teach this class. Pick a different teacher if you want to pass.

I love Dr. Johnson. He was always available to help me outside of class. He answers emails quickly and gives great feedback. He is so kind and well educated in the subject matter and other things. He is a really great teacher I wish I could have him again.

By far one of the worst classes I've taken BECAUSE of the professor. Doesn't post lecture slides, teaches like 400 level, tough tests, very little opportunity to get points, overall absolutely horrible experience

In short, be ready to write like a hardvard student, as he will grade you like one. Never before have I gotten a grade on a paper under a B (at worst). Since the start of this course, the best Ive gotten was a C. You can explain your paper structure and all to him, he just will not take your explanations into account. Extremely harsh grader.

For this to be a 101 level it is insanely difficult. Even when students tells him that it is too hard for the level he openly says okay??

He's not difficult if you DO THE WORK. He's not a hand holder, even for freshman, but if you seek him out, he's very helpful. He's a very passionate instructor, I learned a lot from him in this intro course (as an elective). Definitely recommended if you're willing to put in some effort.

great teacher, but he's very veryy confusing about the guidelines and how he wants you to go about writing a research paper. Plus, he's a harsh grader on research papers, and doesn't give little assignments inbetween, so there's no way to compensate if you mess up.

It has now been six years since I took CRJ 203 with Dr. Johnson, and it was an experience I will never forget. In a good way. I learned more about criminal justice in that one class than I did in several of my others combined. Any professor can make you learn the material; Johnson makes you WANT to learn it. He is hard but wants you to succeed.

I took this class three years ago, and to this day it stands as one of the best I have ever taken. Furthermore, Dr. Johnson is one of the most informative, respectful, and knowledgeable professors on the campus. Now it's CRJ 303, and it's being taught by someone (Dr. Skoll) with less than half the teaching ability of Johnson. Go figure.

Amazing professor. Friendly and fair. He interacts with the students and helps them with the material. His tests are multiple choice with 2 essay questions. Not bad if you've read the textbook and studied notes. His laugh will make you smile.

Johnson is a very smart professor and the class is interesting. He does want you to LEARN the material, not just know it. Be prepared to read a lot and study hard. Not the easiest of classes but Johnson is a great professor.

He is very clear on explaining the materail but is never there to help.Does not care if you fail and does not give out extar credit. His test are very hard. His lectures can be intersting. Overall very egocentric and has a condescending tone, but if you can learn by yourself take it

Had no idea what i was getting myself into. But, Dr. Johnson is great. He taught be alot about the black experience, and the history of black people.Albeit, his tests are difficult, as well as the assignments. he remains, however, as one of my favorite professors.
