Dr. Ritterling is hands down one of the nicest teachers/profs I've ever had. I took her Korean Drumming class for First Year Seminar. Most assignments are the FYS "how-to-college" ones, which she's very lenient on. There is a solo/group culture research & create-a-drum-song project, but she's very supportive and it's really not hard. Overall lovely

Many of those taking this class have to in order to become an elementary school teacher but have no background in music and are not minoring in it. However, if you dont know much about music be ready to not succeed. The quizzes are very hard and you need to memorize every word she says in class or you will not do well.

Ritterling was a nice professor, but she acted like everyone was music major when 99% of the kids in the class weren't. Five tests total with listening examples and this class is not about classroom music. It's about different historical time periods and their music. Extremely boring. I would not take this class again, but Ritterling was still nice

This class was designed to teach future educators and yet Dr. Ritterling's teaching was not representative of the quality pedagogy other UWL classes promote. Dr. Ritterling clearly cares more about making music "hard" rather than teaching the passion for music. Be prepared to memorize meaningless information to pass a class without longterm benefit

I and many people in the class found it ironic that such an awful teacher taught future teachers. If you want help in this class, go to a friend, because she was not planning on helping you anyways. Such a terrible and unwelcoming class. She will not help you if your grade is a few percentages away either. She does NOT care about her students.

Honestly, for an elementary music class this is ridiculous. She makes quizzes and tests with answers that no one would know. There is some questions that are never mentioned in the book or lecture notes, so its always fantastic to be randomly guessing. Not to mentioned she made her grade scale more difficult for an ELEMENTARY music class. A is 95%

Boring class, she tries to get people to participate but it doesn't go great. Really easy A, but pretty boring class. It's also hard to study for the quizzes because it seems like just a bunch of random information.

a very boring professor and class. It is clear that she wants her students to be participating, but she goes about the class in such a bad way that nobody wants to participate. I don't think i talked to a single person in my class for the whole semester. again, a very dry class and a very boring professor

I had to take Aural Skills for my music minor and I came in not knowing much about music on paper. I did learn lot, even though for me, it was very hard. I still enjoyed her class and her enthusiasm.

She's very nice. She knows everyone is just there for gen ed credit so she tries to make the class easy, fun, and interesting. She puts all her notes online and will review all the important stuff again in the lecture before the quiz. The listening experience of music was a pretty easy and laid back class overall.

The class is unenjoyable if you are not musically inclined; you have to sing and dance and create music. Dr. Ritterling made class humorous and interesting, but she is not very helpful when you seek extra assistance. I went to her office hours and she basically told me to figure it out myself. Tests are easy; she isn't a tough grader.

I actually really like her! She was hard to understand at first, but you get used to it. She kept things relatively interesting and she gives you study guides for every "learning experience." Don't call them tests in her class...she doesn't like it. She does make you write a research paper, but you pick the topic. It's not hard! I recommend her!

Easy class, her tests are simple. Lecture is boring, but she tries to have fun even if you're not. Just don't take this if you don't want to write a research paper; no other MUS105 teacher requires one.

She's a very nice lady, very knowledgable too. She's from Korea so it's hard to understand her, you get used to it though. Makes class interesting by singing a lot.
