Great professor! He lets you bring a standard sheet of paper with notes on it to the exams and picks fair questions. All exams have extra credit and to get an 100% for homework you only need a 70% on WebAssign. (To those who reviewed him and said he didn't have clear expectations and took off senseless points on exams: did you even take his class?)

He gives a homework per class but is only worth 5% of your grade. The rest of your grade is 3 exams and the final. His lectures are mostly boring and not helpful because he goes over simple problems but assigns difficult ones. He takes off senseless points for exams if problem is correct, he will find something wrong with it. Frustrating.

He gives homework often, yet it't only worth 5% of the total grade. There are exams and a final and those are your main grade points. There are no quizzes and so the tests can be challenging on what he expects you to know. He also uses tough questions on the test. His lectures aren't bad, can get pretty boring.

Comment:
Gives practice tests, which can be helpful but the real test is never like the practice test. So pretty much whatever isn't on the practice test will be on the actual test, which is good to know I guess. A lot of homework. Very time consuming. But he's good at explaining things and pretty helpful. Takes off senseless points on the exam though.

Lectures are good but he gives the easy examples during class but on the tests he finds the hardest questions in the chapter.

Doty only does proofs in class and barely any problems. His homework is optional but there are only 2, 25% of grade tests and a 50% final. It's difficult to understand or relay the information he lectures on the test so you actually have to do the homework as "prep work".

I loved Doty! He went above and beyond when teaching, talking about real world applications of what we learned. Every other class, he walked us through hw problems on the board which was extremely helpful. HW every other class, three tests and the final. Lets you make formula sheets for the tests. Definitely take him!

Assigns homework, but not graded. 3 exams and 1 final. No quizzes or calculators. Allows equation sheet. Amazing Prof. Very clear and obviously passionate about math. Goes way beyond what we are suppose to learn and talks about how it relates to upper level math classes and comp sci classes. If he would teach every math class, I'd be a math major.

Excellent professor! Made things very clear and made sure he went over things enough. 2 midterms (40%) and a final (45%) with some quizzes, can be difficult but allows an equation sheet, and gives practice tests from the past which make it pretty easy. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Doty's the man! He is extremely helpful with helping students because he will work out solutions and make it clear what you did wrong if you didn't get the right answer. I thought his exams were easy, but many students had trouble with the course. I would take Dr. Doty again in a heartbeat if I could!

Dr. Doty is an excellent teacher. He works problems in class, asks students to partipate, and always asks if we had problems with the homework. How-to videos, helpful links, and daily quizzes (two attempts) are online. The two midterms and final are challenging, but doable, especially since he allows you to make equation sheets.

2 exams and a final (the final can count as your course grade if you get a better score than avg of 2 exams). Straightforward Exams. No homework. Very meticulous. Goes through each section in great detail. Lets you bring a cheat sheet for each exam (2 sheets for final). Doesn't make you memorize theorems. Lecture is boring as always, but great prof

This teacher was mediocre. While he was excited about the topic, it was really hard to pay attention in his class. Reasonable, though the grading was unclear. Somewhat insulting comments on the homework when a mistake was made, like "Do you even know what a ___ is?" One test, homework due every other class.

Professor Doty is a nice guy who is very serious about teaching his students. The material was tricky at times but he teaches everything fairly clearly. Sometimes he starts to go off in his own math world, which is when things can get confusing, but after taking his class you learn so much. Overall, his class is tough, but it's for the better.

Amazing professor-very knowledgeable, entertaining, clear, approachable, yet very geeky. Likes to have students come to the chalkboard and do selected homework problems-don't worry if it's wrong-he doesn't mind. Homework is not graded BUT HIGHLY RECOMMMENDED,if you don't do it, you will fail. Exams are VERY similar to hw problems, so do the hw!

Doty is a really nice guy, but is anything but inspiring. He kind of has weird quirks in the classroom if you pay attention. Two tests, final, nightly homework. Pretty reasonable grader. His lectures are crystal clear, or else he will give you a supplement so it is.
