Not only is Prof. Polk a great prof, but he is a great person. He is genuine inside and outside of the classroom, keeps lectures interesting and has a good sense of humor. He is very passionate about what he teaches about and preaches true Christianity.

To the poster who wrote about Polk, "if you are a firm believer in Christ, you may be offended by some of his teachings." I disagree. As a follower myself, and as someone who has worked closely with Dr. Polk, I must say what he teaches is "genuine Christianity." If you have a problem with his teaching you should take another look at your religion.

Take a class with this man- he will expand your mind and plus, ees just fer fun. He's hilarious and intelligent and you need to know what he teaches! Yeah, eastern religions are sweet, believe me, I take those classes too- but stop thinking you know everything about "western" traditions or the one you "grew up in" and take his classes!

Polk is a nice enough man, but I didn't find him to be a very good Professor. He is very disorganized and makes a lot of strange comments. He has his own opinions and will not hesitate to give you a piece of his mind on papers if he doesn't agree with you. Rate on writing technique, not content!

DON'T TAKE POLK!!! He's insane!!! He has a good sense of humor, but he has problems. He often gives his own views as facts ("This passage clearly proves that Jesus was a gay, pro-choice vegetarian who wanted weed leaglized."), and he HATES when students dispute, or even question, what he says. RUN!

Very interesting, tough grader but he is fair. You have to know Tim Polk before you graduate from Hamline. Take a class from him or just go up and introduce yourself. He's brilliant and engaging, very involved with his students and he actually cares!
