Good at explaining concepts and engages students by encouraging them to write on the board. Dynamic class style where you do worksheets once she teaches. Keep them! worksheets/hw similar to exam. Look at hw grading to gauge her exam grading. When classes went online she adapted well with excellent slides. Very organized and structured.

She is a harsh grader for no good reason and also inconsistent with grades. She does not care about how you are doing in the class even if you are struggling. Her exams are impossible to complete on time since she has unfair expectations. Just because you did well in Calc 1 and 2 does not translate over to her Calc 3 class. You have been warned.

Comment:
Her grading is very unforgiving and inconsistent. She preaches the efficiency of the subjects taught but expects us to show our work in the most roundabout way. As a result, the exams are artificially made to be much longer than they normally would take. Students in this class know their concepts well, but harsh grading results in grade deflation.

Although she is great at explaining concepts, her expectations of showing work are beyond any other math class I've been in. Comparing my test with my peers, we both got the same answer with the same steps yet we got different scores. The material is reasonable for the class level, but she achieves a grade bell curve through harsh grading.

She is definitely the best professor I've had this semester and one of the best ones throughout my studies. Extremely useful if you want to develop a career in trading, IB, or any other quantitative finance area. Great classes and the course project is really interesting to do. Also tests are quite similar to H/W questions. I highly recommend it.

This class was interesting. For actuary majors, it helps because the class covers material half of which is on exam FM and the other half ends up on MFE. The class itself consists of three (non-cumulative) exams, 8 homeworks, and a project. The project is long but interesting. The exams are easy, but you really have to show work to get full credit.

Awesome professor and great person. She presents the material in a very straightforward and easy-to-understand way, and her exams are incredibly similar to her homeworks--so definitely do those. This is probably trivial, but her grader is also excellent. You will always know EXACTLY what you did wrong on the homeworks, so the exams are easy.

Her classes typically begin with reviewing material from previous classes, then goes over some new concepts and goes over sample problems. In my opinion the class was pretty boring, but her teaching style works really well since she makes all of the information easy to understand. Her exams are long but straightforward, and you get a formula sheet.

Professor Steblovskaya was a great professor. 8 homework assignments (all graded for correctness), 15% of your grade. 3 tests, all in class, 60% of your grade. The questions are nearly identical to the problems on the homework. A little picky with grading but not too bad. You have a test the last day of class and your "final" is a course project.

Fantastic professor. Both extremely knowledgeable and yet still highly committed to ensuring students learn (very clear lectures). I would clarify her easiness rating, however. She doesn't just hand out 4.0s (I've seen students drop her course because they had this expectation. You must still learn the material to do well.

Great professor. She provides great notes and great explanations. I was 100% unfamiliar with all material but I am following along well and learning a lot. Very strict with homework deadline, but homework is easy and she gives you plenty of time to complete it. Her tests are generally easy.

Best math teacher I have ever had. Made Calc 2 easy, has 6 quizzes, drops 1 and a final + extra credit. Very helpful, goes over every step. If you have the chance, TAKE HER. You won't regret it.

She's really good at explaining concepts, and you'll take awesome notes in class. Her quizzes are pretty easy, and homework follows class notes almost exactly. For this class, you choose between actuarial and applied projects. DO APPLIED, much easier and it goes along with classwork much more. Actuarial, you're on your own.

Really great professor. The class is crystal clear, although it is not super easy, you have to work at it. Her office hours are great, she explains things really thoroughly and well. Our first test was very fair.

Good teacher. I'm pretty good with math anyway, but she explains stuff very well. Quizes are reasonable, but she drops the two lowest grades and has extra credit stuff. Highly recommend.
