I loved Dr. Ching! She made what I thought was going to be a lame class really cool. She's extremely intelligent. Just don't take her class if you're a slacker who isn't interested in working hard and learning in order to get a good grade...

Ching was a mixed bag. Always late for class, but really interested in trying to explore the figures we were addressing. Unfortunately, the pairing of Sontag and Hornby was not such a great choice IMO. As to the comment that MFAers don't understand high/low culture or that we don't read, that's just silly.

Took the Sontag/Hornby class w/her and wouldn't read either writer now for love nor money, but Dr. Ching is one of the best lit professors here. Stupid MFAs shouldn't take her because they don't get lit crit and don't appreciate the low art/high art dicotomy anyway-- they barely read! Go Ching!

She is strange, but great. I enjoyed the class and really think she is one of the most intelligent professors I have ever taken. She definitely has problems with technology, but she keeps trying. I say good for her! Overall, a really good experience. I learned a lot and enjoyed the course.

She was kinda interesting. She helped me after class when I was confused on a subject. She liked that I went to her for help on something.

Knows a lot about the "high art"/"low art" dichotomy. Can be repetetive and not always profound. Very friendly. But don't take her class if you are a lazy slacker.

I agree with the last post. I laughed with my friends for a good 20-25 minutes while she slumped in her seat, made funny faces, and finally dosed off to dream land. Her lecture on global country was a global mess. If u want a good laugh, Chingy's the way to go.

Comment:
Ching was vague about what she wanted and seemed to have problems effectively stimulating and continuing classroom discussions. She herself seemed disinterested in the material being covered, so much so that more than once during Tuesday lectures she fell asleep in front of the entire assembly.

The class seemed relaxed and fun until I got my first paper back. She was very vague about what she wanted, but she graded the papers very meticulously. She gave me a B, I give her a D- !

This class was supposed to be a discussion class but we had to read a bunch of books which I am not whining about but then we wrote "opinion" papers and she graded them hard and I ended up getting a B in the class when I should have had an A. **
