A pretty good professor. The reading was consistently interesting to me, though sometimes dry. A lot of Goffman. It was the type of class that really fostered discussion. Just expect that you will talk about the Middle East a LOT. And that, if you're not someone who speaks up a lot, she probably won't remember you and you might be uncomfortab

Comment:

She's smart, especially when it comes to Turkey. But she hardly ever rememebrs names and doesnt follow the syllabus well so a lot of things get left out. I like her, she isnt the head-in-the-clouds professor you often get in SS, but I have mixed feelings. Smart and nice but the class lacked balance.

I transfered this year and Berna is the only teacher who wasn't a totaly space cadet. One of few hampshire teachers with a head in reality.
