This class was really ridiculous. What a joke. How can you not know what a camera is!? Jan is really nice, but not terribly interesting. The book was pretty stupid. You are better off just taking notes. Not alot of technical saavy...or if there is it's hidden. The projects could be cool...but this was overwhelmingly an excersize in futility.

Jan is very nice and clear with her lectures, her book is very concise too. But most film majors don't need to know what a camera is. So 60% of the time the class felt like a waste. Still, I can't really blame her for teaching a class simpley and concisely.

So condescending and repetitive. What media student doesn't know what continuity is?? Her lectures are word-for-word the same as the book (which she wrote). Just pray for a good TA - you learn all the stuff in your lab anyway.

the lectures are unbearably slow and simple, even for an introductory course. the projects have the potential to be fun, but are restricted by dull themes. students are expected to enter the class knowing final cut, photo shop, and soundtrack in and out, and if you dont, good luck. whatever teaching there is is done by grad students.

God she's awesome! She helped me with everything. When I had problems with my partners she was always there to mediate. A great, objective teacher. SHE WROTE THE BOOK FOR PETES'S SAKE!

I went into the class knowing almost all the material because of EVVYs, EIV, FPS... But I still learned little tid-bits of information here and there. Exams are extremely easy. May be hard for people w/o previous experience.

A great teacher. Really fun, really sweet and very understanding. Her assignments give a lot of creative leeway and she is very helpful and encouraging. I've learned a lot and she is a genuinely nice person.
