Probably the nicest man I know, he is very intelligent and it shows. He cares about his students and helps them to pass. He even does review days before papers/tests to help us. Overall a great man and very interesting background. If you do bad in this class it's probably because you are not even trying.

This class was dragged on and on everyday. Extremely lecture heavy, and he's not good at lecturing, at all. Tries to get students involved, but is bad at communicating with them and will argue with them. The three assigned papers are easy, but you can barely study for his quizzes. Would not recommend this class.

Professor Baratta is an extremely frustrating professor to take a class with. He spends the first 15 minutes of class writing notes on the board that you can barely read. He then lectures the whole class and basically talks to the board instead of the class. He only grades homework for effort, which is good. Quizzes are super hard.

I would not take this class again. Made me late for my next class (15 mins in between) without fail because he went over 5-10 minutes. Notes he gives you aren't clear enough to study and asking questions isn't an option as he is very hard to communicate with.

I've only heard good thing about him when focusing in to advanced History courses, but please never take him for a World Civ., or a US History... he just can't handle lower classmen well, his quizzes are not clearly stated on what the content is focused on, and Worcester State needs to take some money out of tuition to give this man a hearing aid.

His classes will be most appreciated by history majors. If you have a basic understanding of US/European geopolitics, economics, and history you will thrive. He is probably the most knowledgeable and thoughtful professor at WSU and genuinely cares about his discipline as a historian. History of science & tech is his best class. A brilliant man.

Avoid at all costs. Took him for international relations II and it was not good. He wrote mean and hurtful things on my page. Uncalled for rudeness. Avoid his class at all costs. Terrible. Avoid. Called me names like shallow and degraded me as a person. Avoid his class.

Dr. Baratta gives 3 papers each semester, that each have 3 options to write about. There are also 3 in-class multiple choice quizzes. Besides that, there is one homework a week, just a short paragraph about the reading or topic of the week. I've taken Dr. Baratta three or four times, and will be taking again!

Dr. Baratta is a wonderful history professor. I had him for my first year seminar (Promise of the United Nations) and I really enjoyed his class. He is very passionate about what he teaches and extremely intelligent. The classwork isn't hard. All you have to do to get a good grade is take notes. Sometimes he rambles/repeats but he is still great :)

Dr. Baratta is a very respectable professor. Most of his classes are the same. 3 papers over the semester, as well as a couple of multiple choice quizzes which are pretty easy. As others said his lectures are often not interesting unless you are a history major or interested in the topics. He is very willing to answer questions. WILL TAKE AGAIN

Most boring teacher I have ever had. Dreaded his class every day and could not make myself pay attention if I even wanted. 3 tests, really difficult to understand the layout of. Also 3 papers to write which he gives you options for the prompt. There are some great history teachers at this school, so take someone else. Would not take again.

Dr. Baratta is a passionate man. His grade is based on 3 papers, 3 quizzes, and homework. However he is a tough grader. Lectures are normally long and boring, and he has a tendency to go over time by 5-10 mins. He's a very nice man, but his class may not be for everyone.

He is a really intelligent man who is very passionate about history. He does expect students to pay attention and listen to him. He gives three quizzes and three papers. Both are easy if you do the reading and pay attention in class. His lectures do tend to be long. He isn't the most excitable speaker but he's really knowledgeable.

Prof. Baratta was a pretty good instructor to have for an introductory class. His lectures were long and he's not exactly an exciting speaker, but the content is at least interesting and he wants students to pass. He is a very easy grader, as long as you try to do the work.

Professor Baratta is a teacher for History students. If you like the subject, you'll love his classes, and I highly recommend him. He knows his stuff and is very passionate. If you're a math major, you'll find his more advanced classes tedious and boring because he tries to cover so much material in each class.

Easy class if you like the sciences but the lectures are dry in learning the history of it. Easy assignments to do & can get away with not reading the book weekly if you just sit there and pretend to care.

Not the best professor if you have no absolute interest in world history. dry lectures & critical on writing essays if you really don't see the interest in any of the essay topics provided. luckily no final which is only the last paper due on finals day which can be turned in early. Unfortunately can lecture 10 mins after class ends.
