He is the real deal ,,if you are an actor ,director,film major ,or just interested in the theater or acting ,,this class will change you. its relly hard ,he'll work with you if your shy ,but prepare to be exposed of all your insequrities. it can hurt, but its rely worth it. he will make you better.

He's a great professor. He can get a bit long winded. A lot of test questions aren't found in the text. Just look it up online. I liked the movies he picked. His play wasn't that horrible. But the chairs in the theater are as uncomfortable as it gets! He does have an ego on him, but I've seen worse. Just tell him his play was great.

Jewel is a very good teacher that i would recommend to anyone interested in taking an art history class. I never really like art but she makes the class very easy and somewhat enjoyable. You go on two field trips to mesuems and write papers on them but the rest is just 30 point quizes. Very good class to take and an easy grade.

Spent 2 years with him and took what I could get. He has a wealth of knowledge for those dedicated and passionate enough to take it. Looking back, Castro is self-absorbed and his passion is on decline. Hard to recommend knowing his best days are behind him.

He is more than just a professor. He enriches his student's souls. It's unfortunate that some of his students are too blinded by ego and jealousy to see what he is teaching. He wants all of his students to go beneath ego. He is a healer. He is abstract because he works with nonmaterial gifts.For me he has been a spiritual leader and what he has taught me gives me strength, freedom, faith, hope, and purpose everyday of my life. To any student entering his class, go deeper and listen.

He wants you all to succeed. He'll leave you with knowledge and skillful training, if you let him. Those of you who find him "demeaning" might need to look past the tip of your nose and think of the big picture. You have to buy a booklet that is totally useless. So unclear it makes no sense. He teaches nothing but expects you to know everything. He just tells you to go online and look up everything about the directors and the movies. Tests have very tricky questions. He makes you watch one of his very boring plays. Thought it would be fun class--WRONG!

dram 101/102/201/202/150/151 prof. castro is an AWESOME coach. he gives clear directions and knows what he's talking about! he requires students to watch a play when they are in his cinema class so they will appreciate the works of art of cinema. he is a great man and i will always respect him.

He is a great acting coach and director. You will grow as an actor tremendously if you takes notes and put your trust in him. He seems like a prick at first but he is just weeding the bad one's out like a drill sargeant will do. If you are serious about your craft than be a soldier and stand firm.

Feed his ego. He requires viewing of (his directed) school play, tell him you loved it and understood what he was going for... but beware, they're awful. Movie selection is good, just know a bit of the info surrounding the film and you'll do fine on tests. (Call him "sir" and you'll pass.)

I think it's very important to remember that your opinion of the man differs depending on what course you take. Serious acting students might have seen through his pompous attitude and stern manner to the funny, incredible mentor that he is.
