Comment:

I've not taken a course with her, but she's my adviser. I would rather have a potted plant. At least I could get in touch with the plant. Kristen is great if you can catch her, but I've been sending emails for the past six months and haven't gotten a reply; I've camped in front of her office, too. Good luck if you have a problem.

Comment:

Kristen was really a horrible first year advisor.. I'm sure generally she has good intensions but was ill-equipped for the job. She indoctrinates with her own ideas and rejects thinking outside of her Judith Butler ideological framework.. She is compassionate to people, but a horrible advisor.. You like her or you don't. I didn't.

I took a class with Kristen fall semester and have yet to receive my evaluation. While her class was good, her disorganization really impacts the students negatively. She lost our papers and never got edits back to us. While I like her as a person and she definitely knows her subject well, I'm frustrated and won't take another class of hers.

Comment:

While she is undeniably knowledgeable about educational policy and feminism, and also quite friendly and personable, she is just terribly disorganized. She never gets papers back in a timely manner, and often her assignments are a bit vague. I wish she could have been more helpful.

Comment:

As an advisor and professor, Kristen is incredibly approachable and helpful. Every class she teaches includes a community-based ethnographic research project, which is an experience I'd recommend to all Hampshire students. I'll admit that she is slow at getting work back to students, but when it gets back it is full of helpful comments/feedback.

Kristen is a great person. She clearly is very emotional and at times scattered, but I can tell she cares about me and the subject matter. In my classes with her, i always have suggestions for improvement, and she seems to take them constructively. I feel comfortable in her classes, i will miss her.

I try so hard to like her, give her a chance (her son is adorable), but i cant help feeling partially offended with her responses to me as a student, me as a person. she does not run her classes in an affective manner. however, she is so undeniably smart and a very personable person, just acts like she has something to prove. should be more comf

I was really worried before taking this class because kristen had such a bad review. She really is not that bad! She is really sweet and cares about what she is talking about. She is availible to meet with and she is really helpful. It took a while for her to get stuff back but don't be scared to take a class with her.

I transferred schools 2 years after taking Kristen's class and my transcript STILL didn't include her evaluation. She was gone for half a semester due to a death in the family, not to mention the pregnancy. When I finally got the eval. it was just ridiculous. I'm pretty sure she had no idea who I was and couldn't grasp the work that I had done for her class. She was the bane of my existance.

I have never been so disappointed in a class. I had to go to Berman to get my eval from her, which was inaccurate and 6 months late (she even said that her dissertation was going to come before her students). Her class is the title of my div2, but I'm not going to ask her to be on my committee.

I was very excited about this class when I read the course description, but it has been a horrible disappointment. Kristen is unhelpful, unclear about her expectations, inflexible, and at times plain rude. I will have to take education classes elsewhere because I will NOT work with her again.

Kristen's a very nice lady but one of the most irresponsible teachers I have ever worked with. Work is invariably returned late (I had to wait TWO YEARS for class/Div I evaluations), and her comments are mostly unhelpful.

Kristen is AWFUL. She treats people poorly, is very, very slow at returning work and evals, has very unconstructive critisism and has extremely inflexible opinions. Do not work with her.
