Comment:

Tom seems to care about his students on the surface but if you aren't doing well in the class he pushes you aside. At the time of midterms when material get tough and I started to fall behind he make my learning environment hostile I was uncomfortable. By finals I dreaded going to class would not recommend if you need extra help he won't be there.

tom really helps you learn what its like to play in an actual band. we never had lead sheets we just learned by ear and thats what made this class so fun. hes very willing to talk about his life as a performer and has great advice to give

Tom is really laid back and a hilarious guy. You get graded on about 5 or 6 one on one tests but he lets you know which examples you'll be tested on and works with them all week so no sight reading. Gives homework about once a week or so and gives you ample time to do it. If you practice and do the homework, there's no way you wont do well.

Tom loves getting off topic, and then wants to be a tough grader with attidtude when it comes to testing. Funny but didn't learn as much as I should of because of his lack of focus.

Really good, funny, charismatic teacher. Had him for ear training 1 my first semester and he was great. Doesn't assign too much homework, gives you a week to do it, and goes over the material on the quizzes in class, Because of this he's a little tough when it comes to grading quizes but it makes sense why. Makes class fun and is very helpful

had him for rock and roll hall of fame ensemble. chill hippie sort of guy. ensemble with him felt like a slightly annoying jam session from my high school days. some will like him for his "chillness"... some might get frustrated. just practice a lot. hands down a great musician no matter your opinion of him otherwise.

AWESOME guy. Too laid back sometimes. 4-5 one-on-one examinations during the semester, just know your stuff fairly well and you'll be completely fine.

He is a super cool guy. Had him for ET2, great way to start out the day. Does fun songs in class, but is a tough grader at times. Work hard and you should do fine, although at times i felt he should have given me better grades

Tom is a great guy. He's chill, funny, and a really talented musician. He grades tough but he's 100% fair. I've had him for several classes, and I didn't do very well in his ear training class, but this was entirely due to my effort and had nothing to do with him. He gave me every opportunity to do well.

Tom is a great teacher! I had never had exposure to ET before Berklee, but I feel like I have a solid understanding of it, and I definitely feel prepared for the next level. Tom's class is definitely one of the funnest one's I have. He's so funny, and really keeps us engaged. I would recommend him to anyone that wants strong ET skills.

Tom is a great guy, hilarious teacher, and keeps everything interesting. Very helpful with ear training, and even more helpful in keeping school entertaining and fun. Not too much homework, just enough to grasp the concepts. Awesome guy!

Tom's a nice guy. He does get distracted a lot, but it is on really fun topics. But the semester is almost over and we are on chapter 4 of 8. He's a pretty tough grader. Tom's nothing special, but he is fun, but don't think his leniency wont effect your grade when quizzes come around.

I love Tom! He is a lot of fun and really laid back, but is willing to help those who need it and is patient. He uses fun and unusual methods of teaching and always makes sure students are prepared for quizzes (which are really easy).
