Whit is an amazing teacher and person. I can't even begin to say what he's done for me. I love the guy. If you're willing to work your ass off every week to learn jazz for real, take him. If you do the work and show up with a good attitude he'll treat you like family. If you want to float through Berklee and remain a nobody, then take someone else.

Excellent teacher and an amazing upright and electric player. I probably learned more about improv on the bass this semester than in all the rest of my time at Berklee. He's tough, yes, but very encouraging if he sees you working and improving. Also very funny and kind. He genuinely cares and wants you to succeed.

the best bass instructor at the school. he wil push you till you are ready to break than guide you to what you always wanted to be, a solid bass player with strong roots. demanding, but not in a bad way, don't waste his time or your talent there are others who want your spot.

I had whit for a bass lab and also for private instruction twice) Whit is a demanding teacher, but has the best of intentions. He will push you to what he thinks your FULL potential is and has a great, laid back personality. He's a jazz guy.
