Tom is a very sweet man, but I really did not find this class to be informative or engaging at all.

I Haven't learned a single thing from this man. He is a nice guy but his entire lesson plans are literally reading powerpoints he made 30 years ago and just assumes everyone is understanding the material though none of us get it without figuring out completely, 100% by ourselves.

Very nice guy, but does not explain anything. He skims over everything important and doesn't explain how to use the formulas (he just shows a slideshow and reads it word for word without elaborating) and then goes on and on about the simplest things everyone already knew instead of teaching the curriculum. Also wastes time showing irrelevant videos

Do not waste your time with Plsek. Easily one of the worst teachers at this college. Good guy, awful teacher. Not engaging or clear on topics whatsoever. Covers only what he thinks is interesting, and just assumes you're getting the material. If you take him I hope you have some background knowledge on acoustics or get a tutor. STAY AWAY!!!!

This professor is probably the worst teacher Ive taken in my entire life. He is a very lovely person but terrible teacher. He relies on powerpoints and does not explain concepts clearly. I ended up learning from a friend who was taking another professor teaching the same course. Im getting As in every class except for this one. Avoid if possible.

Don't waste your time with him. Very boring teaching style, though he does try to include some demonstrations. Absolutely no hands on work to prepare you for quizzes, midterms, or finals, just kind of shows charts and PowerPoints in class and expects that you can do complicated formulas just by looking at them. Worth taking acoustics, not with him.

Tom is really passionate about the subject of acoustics and is a really quirky, fun teacher. However, I feel like you need some type of background knowledge in acoustics or you'll have a tough time following along in this class. I spent a lot of the semester kinda confused.

Had private lessons with Tom. He is a really funny guy, sort of like a cooky grandfather character. Knows a ton about acoustics and all sorts of eras and styles of playing. Very helpful and genuinely interested in helping you improve yourself. Ask him about his Didgeridoos!

Does not teach class very well. Instead of teaching us things we need to know for the class, he skims through the important parts and talks about things he likes. The entire course was taught to me by tutors, not one bit of information taught in class was useful. Notes are useless as well. Nothing is clearly explained in class or through notes.

Tom is the man. He's the head of the brass department and had one of my favorite personalities in a teacher. Although, I'll admit he wasn't the greatest acoustics teacher. He really knows the topic inside and out, and has a great attitude towards teaching it, his teaching methods are just unclear. He has an assistant who's great though!

Comment:
At first he seems to know what he's talking about, but once you work out the equations you see he doesn't. He relies on inaccurate shortcuts to derive answers. Then in the handouts he uses the shortcuts, not the formulas, to show work. If you memorize his shortcuts you might do okay on tests, but you will have no real understanding of the formulas

Tom loves acoustics. His interest in the subject rubs off on you. Class is based on powerpoint presentations with some complicated formulas, graphs and definitions, but if you're in class, he'll explain them in an easy-to-understand way. And if you have to miss class or just don't understand, he has an assistant running help sessions.

The worst professor I've had at Berklee. He's out of his mind. His teaching assistant explained the entire course for me in two hours. Plsek couldn't explain it in 16 weeks!!
