Comment:
Blumenson is largely underappreciated. His presentation is clear and invites discussion. His critical remarks point out actual flaws is your work rather than his idiosyncrasies. Besides, he does not play favorites and is generally tactful. This is more than I can say about most professors.

Comment:
I was somewhat interested in criminal law until I took this course. Blumenson's lectures were all over the place - very hard to follow. The material was interesting enough, and I understood what I read in the book, then I went to lecture and I go so confused that I forgot what I thought I understood from the reading. Never again.

Comment:
I had Prof. Blumenson for Criminal Law and for a class on human rights theory. I like Prof. Blumenson's lecture style, which is pretty conversational and which usually relies on lots of class discussion. He is respectful of student ideas (even when they are ridiculous or poorly thought out). He is also quite an accomplished scholar outside class.

Comment:
He's one of the most caring professors at Suffolk, but he's hard to follow. He bases most of his classes on theories and discussions, and despite his helpful charts, his final is a toughy. Be prepared to have most of the multiple choice reflect things never even discussed or studied during the semester at all. He's a smart guy though.

For 1L Criminal Law, I've so far found him to be very friendly (only professor to hold a welcome party for his 1L students at his home), and very knowledgeable. He is a widely-cited scholar on the Drug War, and he has a position with the International Criminal Court. He does teach a lot of MPC stuff in a common law state, though.

Good teacher. Teaches in Massachusetts, a common law state, and spends too much time on the MPC rules. Open book final and you can use your outline.

I don't know how anyone could say Blumenson is boring. In our section he was considered the better criminal law professor of all the alternatives and his exam is very fair. He teaches from a defense perspective, is interactive, and provided tons of helpful charts for all the different elements/defenses. Easy!

I dont know who put the chili pepper next to his name. Veryyy weird. Besides that, too much MPC and not enough MA law. Should have been an interesting subject but he is boring.

Extremely interested in the material, especially MPC. Exam did not represent the whole semester's coursework. Take advantage of his practice exam sessions.

Good guy, focuses a lot on MPC and can be jumping from subject to subject at times. A few times he forgot to bring certain material to class and had to run back to his office to get it.
