Comment:
Professor Franco is an awesome guy that I really respect, however, he is not an effective professor. Taking Contracts with him as a 1L, prepare to teach yourself the entire course. I think his essay exam is fairly graded, but the multiple choice midterm is very tough. He picks 4 students to be on call and displays it at the beginning of class.

Comment:
Franco is not that bad. He is clearly a genius, he just has some trouble slowing down his expert analysis to a pace which new 1L's can keep up with. Once you catch your rhythm with him however he is a great professor who doesn't actually assign all that much reading. He randomly selects 4 students per class to cover the assigned reading which is ok

Comment:
You can tell that Professor Franco has practiced securities regulation law. There is a difference, however, between having been in the field and effectively teaching the material. His lectures are not clear. If this is your first time attempting to learn the subject, I would not recommend him. He assumes knowledge that most people do not possess.

Recommended for small upper level classes but not large 1L classes. Very intelligent man, but not the best at explaining complex concepts. If you want to do Securities law or M&A, he will prepare you for professional life/work. If you want to learn the basics of a 1L subject/course, look for another option.

Maybethe WORST Prof. at school. DO not take any class with him. He will make you super confuse about even a simple concept. I wish Suffolk could get ride of him. I don't know how he is allowed to teach??????

Stay away. This class is an insane amount of work for 3 credits. There's a take-home paper AND a closed-book multiple choice final - and don't think either of them are easy just because there's 2 of them. They're both extremely time-consuming and difficult.

Very smart man, not the clearest lecturer. Lots of work for 3 credit class. Expects you to do all reading / employs a relaxed socratic method. Fair grader.

He makes a very interesting subject very confusing. The class should absolutely be four credits because of an in class AND take home exam AND project. I would not recommend him for securities or corporate finance.

He expects you to come to class and be prepared. He can be a bit (OK, very) confusing at times during his discussions. The course is a lot of work, but you definitely master the subject. I thought he was a reasonable grader on a TOUGH exam.

I thought he taught everything backwards, and made what could be a reasonably simple course into something much more complex. We learned EVERYTHING out of order, which made it almost impossible to understand the larger picture. Thank god for crunch time

This guy is one of the best professors that Suffolk has right now. I wish he taught more courses. I took Securities Regs. with him, too, and it was exactly like Corp. - tough and a lot of work, but ultimately very fair and appropriate. Franco really cares that his students learn something. He is dryly hilarious in an unexpected way, and nice.

Tough exam? Yes, but you ended up learning a lot & he also made sure you understand the kind of questions he may ask in his exams. Could be clearer in his lecture, but make up by being very approachable after classes & show genuine care to help you understand the materials. His Corp.Fin. class led me to my career as banking lawyer.

I took corporations with him the first time he taught it. He had a lot of kinks to work out. I liked the course and he was a nice guy, but his exam was extremely hard. I was pretty damn sure I bombed the exam, as I didn't even finish and missed a LOT of material, but I got a B. I'm not sure how he'll be next time, but he was certainly fair.
