Smart guy BUT cannot teach. Rushes through powerpoints and does not properly prepare you for his exam. Also constantly brings up his political views and pushes them on to the class. Specializes in Envi Law, which explains his lack of clarity when it comes to contracts

I almost failed my first year of law school because of this professor, luckily im graduating now. I will have to study contracts all by myself, and learn it from the beginning because this professor taught it so poorly.

Comment:

Very smart, expert in environmental law and contracts. Poorly designed powerpoint slides. Can be unorganized and hard to follow in lecture, but very helpful one-on-one in office hours. Very generous grader, gives maximum number of high grades allowed under curve rules.

Professor Ferrey is great! He's hard to follow, so definitely check in with the TA and any other supplements. He grades very generously. Highly recommend.

He is a very smart man, but not only does he confuse the class, he confuses himself. He is not clear, and does not explain well. I have heard he's amazing with his upper level classes, but I would not recommend having him for contracts if you can avoid it.

Really great guy, knows his material well but has a very difficult time explaining things. Gets confused with his own hypos during class. Exam was wicked hard, Said he wouldn't ask much on the UCC and what was pretty much the whole make up of the exam? UCC!

I could not stand this class. I was very interested in the beginning, but his meandering style of teaching is confusing and boring. While he does tell you that participation is important, it seems like even if you participate once every class he still grades you down (happened to me). Unless you like to hear yourself talk, you will be graded down.

Comment:

Professor Ferry specializes in Environmental law, which explains his lack of clarity when teaching his contracts class. He is all over the place, is extremely hard to follow, and does not offer sample exams in preparation for his exams. Exams are hard, be weary!

Ferrey is very nice and approachable. Goes over the material and emphasizes the important concepts more than once. We do go through a ton of cases and many hypos (helpful for exams). Great professor. I would definitely take other classes with him.

Comment:

Ferrey is too smart for his own good. Overall, great guy, but a little unclear for a 1L Contracts course. First month is pretty brutal. Try to talk to him outside of class and he tends to go over the most important stuff again. Remember UCC v. CL. He also pushes the curve to the upper-end, so he's a fair grader.

Very good teacher. He can be a bit unclear at times, but if you follow along he eventually comes back to the point, and he is always willing to help outside of class, where he tends to be much clearer. His midterm is not too bad. The final was pretty brutal. He's a very good grader though and will do everything he can to push up the class grades.

Don't get me wrong, hes tough to follow/understand in class, and the final was nightmare, but Ferrey is a great professor. Easy grader, very approachable, just has a tough time explaining simple ideas in a way that 1Ls can understand. Great professor to have for 1L contracts.

I was pretty cynical during most of the first semester about him, because his style is a little disorganized. He'll spend ages on one thing and speed through the next. However, once you figure out how he's trying to approach things, he's a great teacher and he'll go to the ends of the earth to help you out. Easy grader.

Didnt understand one word he said all semester. I dont' speak "Ferr-ebonics". Speaks his own language, and if you dont get it, be prepared to buy every supplement in the bookstore.

He does not spoon feed you the material. If you come prepared to class, and let him supplement what you read, then you will do well. If you expect him to "teach" you contracts, you're screwed. Good guy outside of class.
