Dear 1Ls, Secret to McEtterick is purchase/order the LegalLines outline of course text. Instead of going to class, read sections in LegalLines corresponding with day's lecture. I suggest making notes but not necessary. Check in every 3rd week to see where the course is. One week before the exam, study your crib notes or the LegalLines text = B+/A-

Earlier reviewers hit the nail on the head, you do pretty much need to teach yourself this class. Exams topics seem to come out of nowhere. If you get a good supplement you'll be fine.

Consumer law was a little rough because he gave us copious amounts of handouts. But if you organized it all, he spoon feeds you what you need to get a good grade. It is dry but I learned a lot in the class. He sporadically takes attendance but it doesn't really matter if you are there...

Simply the worst educational professional I have ever encountered. Single-handidly would ruin my week sometimes, as I was one of the few determined to attend class (which was rewarded with the lowest grade I received all year). My opinion of tenure could not be lower. Awful.

probably the worst teacher I've ever had. Suffolk is doing its students a disfavor my retaining his services.

Great course.. Went to class 5 times all year and nailed a B+ by using an outline book about 2 weeks before the exams... The text is useless..

Boring to the point of nausea - however has his humorous moments. Absolutely no need to go to class. Buy an amazing outline book and go to town on it every other week or so. The best thing is that he marks quite easy on the exams.

If you want to see someone punch in for their paycheck and go through the motions, he's your guy. He makes it obvious throughout the year that he has NO REAL EXPERIENCE in the legal world outside academia. Great person, but as a teacher, he was the worst and least passionate I've had a Suffolk in 2 years.

Sharp guy. Sometimes he goes through the class without interacting with students or asking questions, but he has his bright moments. Sometimes he can be really funny. There are times when you have to have thick skin with him but he's overall a nice guy. For the final exam understand the rules about damages and conditions and you'll do fine.

He's a gentleman and pretty funny. But he's so boring in class. He teaches right out of the book without exception. For the exams, he focuses on the Restatement, esp the comments to his favorite sections. He's not a hard grader which is nice. But man, is he boring in class.

McEttrick is boring at times but is very knowledgable about contract prinicples (from the Restatement to the common law to the UCC). He takes a genuine interst in his students and while he is a diffficult grader, he lays out exactly what will be on his exams. An overall good class.

Comment:
A boring, mean, disorganized old guy that should not be allowed to teach. His approach to contracts lacks any logic, and his lectures do not make sense. Moreover, when you go talk to him, he puts you down and makes you feel like you are stupid. Unfortunately, if you are assigned to section 1C, you are stuck with him. Read Calamari & Perillo to lear

While I agree that he is not well organized, he does get all the points across and he is very approachable. He presents material in a way that seems backwards--starting off with bases for remedies rather than offer and acceptance--but it doesn't matter in the end because he covers all of it. He is also a good guy.

Without a doubt, the worst professor at Suffolk Law. His teaching methods defy all logical explanation (he started with remedies BEFORE offer and acceptance) and he has NO respect for his students. His lectures are devoid of meaningful content and his teaching style is rambling and disjointed. His exams do NOT test important aspects of the course.

Horrible, class. Exam was not difficult in the sense that you could do well if you studied more, it was just horrible. No matter how much you study, it's horrible. This guy sucks. Worst professor ever.

Nice guy. Boring class. He does seem scattered. Tough grader. He is looking for very specific answers on his exams. Monotone voice. He is respectful in class. Did I mention that the class is boring?
